The Reye geometry inside the 64 lines of the Schur quartic

We identify the classical geometry hidden in the Naskręcki–Pokora $(24_4,32_3)$ configuration on the Schur quartic. Using Höhn's identification of the $24$ selected lines with the $24$ roots of $D_4$, the antipodal involution on the roots induces a fixed-point-free quotient of the incidence configuration, and this quotient is precisely the classical Reye configuration. We also determine the symmetry of the complete $64$-line incidence geometry: its automorphism group has order $4608$, the two Naskręcki–Pokora configurations form a single orbit, and the stabilizer of either has order $2304$ (projectively, $576$). The $64$ lines extend canonically to a $176$-line arrangement carried by six projectively equivalent Schur quartics, with $176=16+16+9\cdot16$ and induced surface permutation group $S_3\times S_3$. Finally, the antipodal quotient itself extends coherently through this six-quartic geometry: on each Schur quartic it produces two Reye configurations sharing the same $16$-element incidence skeleton, and on the full $176$-line arrangement it gives a compatible global quotient. This reveals a precise incidence-theoretic connection with classical desmic geometry, while showing that this connection is not a literal identification with the two Reye configurations arising from the classical desmic construction in $P^3$.

Structural consequences of the Schur $p$-property for Lipschitz-free $p$-spaces

Let $0<p<q\leq 1$. We show that the Schur $p$-property provides a powerful structural principle for Lipschitz-free $p$-spaces. Our main result asserts that $\mathcal{F}_p(M)$ has the Schur $p$-property for every $q$-metric space $M$; when $M$ is compact, it has the strong Schur $p$-property, with a constant depending only on $p$ and $q$. As consequences, $\mathcal{F}_p(M)$ is $\ell_p$-saturated, contains no isomorphic copy of an infinite-dimensional $r$-Banach space for $p<r\leq 1$, and every bounded operator from a $p$-Banach space into $\mathcal{F}_p(M)$ is either compact or fixes a copy of $\ell_p$. These results settle Questions 6.1, 6.2, 6.5, and 6.6 from our recent work [F. Albiac, J. L. Ansorena, J. Bíma and M. Cúth, Lipschitz free p-spaces for $0<p<1$ in the light of the Schur $p$-property and the compact reduction, J. Geom. Anal. 36 (2026), Paper No. 54] on the Schur $p$-property, together with several related problems. They also confirm a prediction of Kalton and the first-named author from 2009: no infinite-dimensional $q$-Banach space has the $p$-Lipschitz lifting property. Further applications reveal a sharp contrast between the linear and Lipschitz structures of nonlocally convex spaces.

Long range divided differences, clusters, and Graham-positivity

We study torus-orbit closures in the type $A$ complete flag variety naturally associated to cones in the positive cluster fan, together with their left $S_n$-translates. The torus-equivariant degree maps can be computed via composites of long-range divided difference operations encoded by noncrossing alternating forests, and we give combinatorial algorithms to expand the torus-equivariant homology classes into Graham-positive combinations of Schubert cycles. As applications we obtain combinatorial Graham-positive Schubert cycle expansions for all torus-invariant curves (generalizing the AJS-Billey formula for torus-fixed points), generic torus-orbit closures, and Richardson varieties for Bruhat intervals $[w,wc']$ where $c'\le s_{n-1}s_{n-2}\cdots s_1$. Projecting to Grassmannians we also obtain Graham-positive Grassmannian Schubert cycle decompositions of torus-orbit closures associated to lattice path matroids on permuted ground sets.

Operator Splitting Methods with Online Scaling

This paper develops a principled framework for automatically tuning preconditioners in operator splitting methods, including forward-backward splitting, Douglas-Rachford splitting, and the alternating direction method of multipliers. We interpret these splitting methods as preconditioned gradient descent applied to their corresponding envelope functions and use online learning to adaptively learn the preconditioner during optimization. Our framework achieves asymptotically faster convergence rates and accelerates the solution of important optimization problems, including Lasso, $\ell_1$-regularized logistic regression, and quadratic programming. Extensive numerical experiments validate our theoretical results and demonstrate the practical effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Helson Inequality, Hankel Operators, and Weak Factorization on Paley-Wiener spaces of Convex Domains

For any convex set $\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^n$ that does not contain affine lines, we prove the inequality $$\int_\Omega\frac{|\hat{f}(x)|^2}{\omega_\Omega(x)}\,dx\leq C(n)\|f\|_{L^1}^2,\quad \supp\hat{f}\subset\Omega,$$ where $\omega_\Omega(x)=m(\Omega\cap(2x-\Omega))$. As a consequence, we derive a weak factorization for $$\PW^1(\Omega)=\{f\in L^1(\mathbb{R}^n):\supp\hat{f}\subset\Omega\}.$$ Furthermore, we establish a complete characterization of Schatten class Hankel operators for polyhedra for all $1\leq p<\infty,$ extending the already known $1\leq p\leq 2$ range.

A Robust All-Mach Six-Equation Diffuse-Interface Method for Multiphase Flows with Surface Tension

A robust finite-volume framework is presented for the simulation of compressible multiphase flows with surface tension across a wide range of Mach numbers. The method is based on a two-pressure, six-equation diffuse interface model incorporating viscous, gravitational, and capillary effects through the continuum surface force formulation. To consistently account for capillary-induced pressure jumps, an HLLC Riemann solver is developed using generalized Riemann invariant analysis, and the instantaneous pressure relaxation procedure is modified to preserve the Laplace pressure jump during phase equilibration. To overcome the excessive numerical diffusion of conventional approximate Riemann solvers in the low-Mach regime, a robust low-Mach correction is proposed by extending our previous formulation with a modified scaling strategy that remains stable in regions of strong pressure variation. The resulting method retains accuracy from nearly incompressible flows to compressible regimes while preserving the robustness of the six-equation formulation. The numerical framework is validated using a series of benchmark problems involving surface tension, viscosity, gravity, and compressibility. The results demonstrate accurate prediction of interface dynamics, capillary pressure, and low-Mach flow features, while significantly reducing numerical dissipation without compromising stability. The proposed methodology provides an efficient and reliable approach for the simulation of complex multiphase flows spanning a broad range of flow regimes.

Some Properties of Mordukhovich Derivatives with Applications to Locally Variational Inequalities in Banach Spaces

In this paper, we will investigate the connection between Frechet derivatives and Mordukhovich derivatives of single-valued mappings in Banach spaces. We will find some properties of Mordukhovich derivatives of set-valued mappings, which will be demonstrated by the set-valued metric projection operator in finite dimensional Banach spaces. We introduce the concept of locally variational inequalities in Banach spaces, which focus on finding solutions within some specific neighborhoods rather than across the entire global domain; and we find the connection between the solutions of locally variational inequality problems and the Mordukhovich derivatives.

Generalized tri-circular projections on some vector-valued spaces of analytic functions

In this paper, we characterize generalized tri-circular projections on the following three vector-valued spaces of analytic functions on the open unit disk $\mathbb{D}$: the Hardy space $H^p(\mathcal{K})$ for a complex separable Hilbert space $\mathcal{K}$ and $1 \le p < \infty,p \neq 2$; the space $H^\infty(E)$ of $E$-valued bounded analytic functions for a Banach space $E$ with trivial multiplier algebra; and the little Bloch spaces $\mathcal{B}_0(\mathbb{D}, E)$ and $\mathcal{B}_{\ast}(\mathbb{D}, E)$, for $E$ smooth, strictly convex, and reflexive.

From Semantic to Token Communication: The Next Paradigm for Large-Model-Driven 6G Intelligent Connectivity

The ambitious requirements of sixth-generation (6G) networks are driving communication systems from reliable bit delivery toward meaning-aware and task-oriented connectivity. Large models (LMs), with strong multimodal understanding and generation capabilities, have accelerated this shift and made semantic communication (SemCom) increasingly practical. Yet current LM-driven SemCom remains fragmented: semantic representations are typically tied to specific modalities, models, or tasks. While the bit provides a universal unit for digital transport, there is still no analogous unit for representing and processing semantics, which limits interoperability, theoretical unification, and scalable system design. We argue that tokens provide a natural candidate for this missing abstraction. Two trends support this: unified multimodal LMs now encode text, images, audio, video, and robot actions in one token space, while distributed LM inference already generates substantial token-level traffic through expert routing, cache transfer, and speculative decoding. Token communication (TokenCom) emerges by unifying these trends, using the LM's native processing unit as a communication abstraction above the bit level and enabling importance assignment, error handling, and resource allocation directly at token granularity. This survey traces the evolution from LM-driven SemCom to TokenCom. We review three major directions of LM-driven SemCom: source-centric semantic coding, channel semantics for physical-layer tasks, and collaborative edge-device intelligence. We then examine the token abstraction, the transmission techniques it requires, and two emerging paradigms, namely TokenCom for LM services and for embodied and agentic intelligence. Finally, we identify open challenges toward unified, scalable, and AI-native 6G communication systems.

Perfect $(s,r)$-state transfer

Much work has been done in the last two decades on the topic of quantum state transfer in a quantum spin network. One can model such a system of interacting qubits using an undirected graph, and studying vertex-to-vertex dynamics. This setup has recently been relaxed to allow for dynamics between linear combinations of two vertex states, i.e.\ from $\mathbf u = \mathbf e_a + s \mathbf e_b$ to $\mathbf \mu=\mathbf e_{\alpha} + r \mathbf e_{\beta}$, where $r=s$ is either $-1$ (which corresponds to pair state transfer) or $+1$ (which corresponds to plus state transfer), or more recently $r=s$ is taken to be any real number (which corresponds to $s$-pair state transfer). Here, we broaden the investigation of $s$-pair state transfer to \textit{perfect $(s,r)$-state transfer}, which is perfect state transfer from $\mathbf u = \mathbf e_a + s \mathbf e_b$ to $\mathbf \mu=\mathbf e_{\alpha} + r \mathbf e_{\beta}$ (up to some dilation) where $r,s\in \mathbb C$. We identify infinite families of graphs with perfect $(s,r)$-state transfer and provide characterizations of cases when $|r|= |s|$ and when $|r|\neq |s|$, showing situations when the degree of entanglement between vertex states is preserved, and when it is not preserved. The latter is particularly important as it represents perfect state transfer from an entangled pair of qubits to another one where the degree of entanglement need not be the same\mdash in fact, it can be set up so as to “boost” (increase) entanglement. We provide an algorithm that finds the vector with two nonzero entries that maximizes the fidelity of transfer for a fixed time $t$ starting from a given $s$-pair state $\mathbf u$. Finally, we provide a sensitivity analysis, with respect to readout time errors, of perfect $(s,r)$-state transfer.

A Unified Theory of Collective Magnon and Orbiton Excitations in Altermagnets

Altermagnetism has recently emerged as a distinct collinear magnetic phase exhibiting momentum-dependent spin-splitting despite vanishing net magnetization, as a consequence of inequivalent non-magnetic environments. Lately, it has been proposed that strong electronic correlations may yield spontaneous altermagnetism due to orbital ordering even for equivalent non-magnetic environments. While previous studies have largely focused on the electronic structure, a unified understanding of the collective excitations associated with these two different microscopic mechanisms stabilizing altermagnetism remains absent. Here, we develop an extended Kugel'-Khomskiĭ spin-orbital model on a decorated square lattice that simultaneously incorporates inequivalent non-magnetic environments and correlation-driven orbital ordering within a common theoretical framework. Employing a self-consistent mean-field spin-wave orbital-wave formalism, we demonstrate the emergence of mutually unhybridized but interdependent magnon and orbiton excitations exhibiting characteristic chiral-splitting. We show that the splitting originates from two distinct microscopic contributions: a lattice-dependent term arising from inequivalent non-magnetic environments and an orbital-order-induced exchange-anisotropy term that survives even for equivalent non-magnetic environments. The proposed framework therefore unifies the collective excitations associated with both types of altermagnetism. We further investigate the finite-temperature evolution of the coupled spin-orbital system, revealing the breakdown of spin-wave and orbital-wave approximations through spurious 1st-order transitions, while complementary classical Monte Carlo simulations recover the expected continuous 2nd-order behaviour. Our work establishes a unified microscopic framework for understanding collective magnon and orbiton excitations in altermagnets.

The two most symmetric flat tori as eight-vertex paper tori

A paper torus is a polyhedral torus embedded in $\mathbb{R}^3$ whose intrinsic metric is locally Euclidean, a torus folded from a flat sheet of paper. Many constructions are known, from dozens of vertices into the thousands, and it is natural to ask how few suffice. Schwartz proved that no paper torus has seven vertices, and built one with eight. Doyle and Schwartz then built paper tori realizing almost every shape of flat torus with eight vertices, their construction missing exactly two rays in moduli space, all the rectangular tori, and the rhombic tori of aspect ratio at least $\sqrt3$. These rays end at the two most symmetric flat tori, the square torus and the hexagonal torus. We build an eight-vertex paper torus realizing each of them. We also prove that eight-vertex paper tori realize every shape near these two, since the flat configurations around both form a smooth seventeen dimensional manifold on which the modulus is a submersion.

The $E_6$ Restricted Hyperplane Arrangement and its $E_7$ Shadow: Weyl Transport on a Minuscule Bruhat Poset

We study the restricted fan cut inside the dual fundamental Weyl chamber by the weights of a $27$-dimensional minuscule representation of $E_6$; the two such representations are dual and give the same arrangement. Only $11$ of the $27$ weights have kernels meeting its interior, and we prove that they determine the entire fan. It has exactly $14$ chambers and $18$ extreme rays, every chamber is a six-dimensional simplicial cone, and we determine all facets, rays, and incidence relations. The chamber count was previously obtained by Diaconescu and Entin; the simplicial structure, extreme rays, and incidence data are new. The geometry of the $27$ lines on a cubic surface then explains and organizes the resulting chamber architecture. We also enumerate all faces, compute both characteristic polynomials—the arrangement is not supersolvable—together with lattice indices and projective chamber volumes, and describe the oriented matroid. Our main result is representation-theoretic. A distinguished $14$-element visible subposet of the minuscule $\mathbf{56}$ of $E_7$, defined entirely inside $E_7$, has Hasse diagram equal to the chamber adjacency graph of the $E_6$ arrangement. Three canonical $7+7$ splittings of it, of types $A_7$, $D_7$, and $E_7$, are the visible traces of Levi-center $\mathfrak{u}(1)$-charge decompositions of the $\mathbf{56}$ and reproduce the three level-$8$ decompositions on the $E_6$ side. More strongly, the simple-root labels on its covers, transported by minimal-length coset representatives, recover chamber by chamber all six facets and, globally, the $11$ active weight hyperplanes and the boundary walls of the dual Weyl chamber. Thus the $E_7$ shadow records not merely the chamber graph but, once matched with the independent $E_6$ classification, the full local wall architecture of $I(E_6,\mathbf{27})$.

Tensor hierarchy from deformation quantisation

We show that a formal deformation quantisation of degree-2 differential graded symplectic (QP) manifolds gives rise to the complete classical kinematics and dynamics of NS-NS supergravity, or, equivalently, its duality-covariant formulation as double field theory (DFT). Our construction extends the standard tensor hierarchy, encoding gauge parameters and their redundancies, to a complex encoding the physical fields, field strengths, and Bianchi identities. We present two realisations of such a complex: 1) a differential graded Lie algebra built from the algebra of functions on the QP-manifold; 2) a cochain complex that reproduces the tensor hierarchy representations conjectured in the literature and can be interpreted as a classical BV complex of the linearised theory. The deformation that gives rise to the dilaton comes from a normal-ordered graded Moyal–Weyl star product. This naturally extends the duality structure group from $\mathrm{O}(D,D)$ to $\mathrm{O}(D,D)\times\mathbb{R}^+$. Finally, our framework provides a direct route to constructing the DFT action via local double Lorentz invariance, and offers a transparent algebraic foundation for curvature tensors in generalised Cartan geometry.

Rank-one 4d $\mathcal N=3$ SCFTs: Schur index, VOA modules, and modularity

We study the representation theory of the vertex operator algebras (VOAs) associated with rank-one 4d $\mathcal{N} = 3$ superconformal field theories. For the $\mathbb{Z}_3$ S-fold theory, whose VOA $\mathcal{W}_{\mathbb{Z}_3}$ has central charge $c_{\mathrm{2d}} = -15$, we use the $\mathcal{N} = 1$ Lagrangian description to obtain the unflavored Schur index in terms of Dedekind eta functions, while Wilson-loop indices yield the unflavored non-vacuum characters. These characters all solve a modular linear differential equation (MLDE) whose solution space also contains a logarithmic character. Combining flavored MLDEs from null states with Zhu's associative algebra and a free-field realization, we study four highest-weight modules of $\mathcal{W}_{\mathbb{Z}_3}$ and their flavored characters in closed form. A parallel analysis applies to the $\mathcal{N} = 3$ theories obtained by gauging a discrete $\mathbb{Z}_n$ flavor subgroup of $\mathcal{N} = 4$ $U(1)$ and $SU(2)$ super-Yang–Mills, for which we also obtain closed-form Schur indices and a new free-field realization of the VOA of the $\mathbb{Z}_4$ quotient.

F-theory on K3 surfaces and orthogonal modular forms

We identify the precise F-theory backgrounds dual to the heterotic string theory compactified on $T^2$ with general Wilson lines turned on for one of the two $E_8$'s. The elliptic curve describing the backgrounds is expressed in terms of orthogonal modular forms and is determined so that it admits a nontrivial scaling limit yielding a rational elliptic surface. We confirm that the curve reduces to the Seiberg-Witten curve for the E-string theory in this limit. We conjecture that our result gives an explicit inverse period map for algebraic K3 surfaces polarized by the $U\oplus E_8(-1)$ lattice.

The maximum spectral radius of outerplanar and planar $k$-uniform hypergraphs

For $k\ge3$, a $k$-angulation is a simple $2$-connected outerplane graph whose interior faces are bounded by $k$-cycles, and a closed $k$-angulation is a simple $2$-connected plane graph all of whose faces are bounded by $k$-cycles. Their face hypergraphs have the same vertices as the graphs; the hyperedges are the vertex sets of the interior faces, respectively all faces. For $k=3$, the extremal problems over these hypergraphs agree with those for the outerplanar and planar $3$-uniform hypergraphs of Ellingham, Lu and Wang, who determined the outerplanar maximizer for large $n$ and conjectured the planar one. In this paper, for each fixed $k$, we determine the hypergraphs of maximum spectral radius in both classes for all sufficiently large $n$ satisfying the corresponding face-count divisibility condition. In the outerplanar case, the unique extremal hypergraph is the face hypergraph of the fan, in which one vertex lies on every interior face. In the planar case with $k=3$, it is the face hypergraph of $K_2+P_{n-2}$, which confirms the conjecture of Ellingham, Lu and Wang. For $k\ge4$, the extremal hypergraphs are the face hypergraphs of balanced theta graphs, in which two vertices lie on every face. For $k=4$, the result holds for every $n\ge5$, with extremal hypergraph ${\mathcal H}(K_{2,n-2})$. For $k\ge6$ and an even number of faces, there are exactly $\lfloor(k-2)/2\rfloor$ extremal hypergraphs up to isomorphism.

Lateral Weak Stieltjes Derivatives: A Global Characterization of Stieltjes–Sobolev Spaces

Weak formulations for Stieltjes differential equations must retain the directional information carried by atoms of the driving measure. We derive a lateral integration-by-parts identity in which the posterior trace of the test function is forced by the atomic product rule. The resulting dual formulation gives an exact global characterization of integral Stieltjes–Sobolev spaces for the full exponent range from one to infinity and reconstructs the unique strong representative from its traced weak state. We prove that the associated traced weak operator is closed, establish Poincaré–Stieltjes estimates, and \rev{characterize Stieltjes absolute continuity inside bounded variation through a canonical derivative measure whose restriction to the open interval is the classical distributional derivative}. The framework is then applied to finite-dimensional nonlinear measure-driven systems, yielding equivalence of weak, integral, and measure formulations, existence and uniqueness under integrable Lipschitz assumptions, compactness-based existence, and intrinsic reset laws. Cubic and logistic models illustrate the simultaneous encoding of continuous evolution and instantaneous interventions.

It therefore fails to be nowhere scattered and, in particular, is not pure. Taking $\Gamma$ to be any nonamenable group, we thereby obtain a negative answer to a question of Thiel.

The bit complexity of the new algorithm is polynomial in the input and output sizes and the individual degree bounds. Our algorithm follows the standard approach by reducing multivariate polynomial GCD to univariate polynomial GCD. Our algorithm reduces a multivariate polynomial GCD to a single univariate polynomial GCD. The main idea of our algorithm is a new variable substitution which reduces a multivariate polynomial to a separated one, that is, the coefficients in a main variable are all monomials. The explicit bit complexity is analyzed and we have implemented our algorithm in Maple. It is shown that our algorithm is efficient for polynomials with high degree, large number of variables, but small number of terms in GCD.

The 2-Adic Valuation of the Order of the All-Ones Class in the Sandpile Group of a Square

Place one grain at every nonsink vertex of the wired $n\times n$ square, and let $L(n)$ be the order of this operation in the sandpile group. Thus $L(n)$ is the least positive $q$ for which $q$ uniform grain layers form an integral combination of toppling moves. We prove that, for every $n\ge1$, \[ \nu_2(L(n))= \begin{cases} 2,&n=1,\\ 1,&n\ge2\text{ even},\\ \nu_2(n+1)+2,&n\ge3\text{ odd}. \end{cases} \] For even squares, this follows from the domino–sandpile results of Florescu, Morar, Perkinson, Salter, and Xu, completed by a short parity observation. For odd squares, a unimodular cyclic basis identifies the folded cokernel with a quotient by two shifted Chebyshev polynomials and sends the all-ones class to $1$. Its order is determined by the constant part of this polynomial ideal, not just by a determinant. Two normalized Euclidean remainders reduce to consecutive Fibonacci polynomials over $\mathbb F_2$, giving the exact valuation.

Fluctuations of additive martingale limits of branching Brownian motion

Consider a one-dimensional branching Brownian motion. Let $W_\infty(\beta)$ denote the limit of the additive martingale in the subcritical regime $\lvert \beta\rvert < \beta_c$ and $Z_\infty$ be the limit of the derivative martingale at criticality. Madaule (Stochastic Process. Appl. 126 (2016), no. 2, 470–502) established the following convergence \[ \frac{W_\infty(\beta)}{\beta_c-\beta}\xrightarrow[\beta\nearrow \beta_c]{\mathbb{P}} 2Z_\infty. \] The goal of this paper is twofold: firstly, we strengthen this result into an almost sure convergence; secondly, we describe the fluctuations occurring in this convergence by proving \[ \frac{1}{\beta_c-\beta}\left( \frac{W_\infty(\beta)}{\beta_c-\beta} - 2 Z_\infty +2(\beta_c-\beta)\log(\beta_c-\beta) Z_\infty\right) \xrightarrow[\beta\nearrow \beta_c]{(d)} S, \] where, conditionally on $Z_\infty$, $S$ follows a spectrally negative 1-stable distribution with scale and shift parameters proportional to $Z_\infty$. Furthermore, these results are extended to the setting of complex additive martingales and the fluctuations to a multi-dimensional convergence.
