Spectral Viterbo isomorphism: complex-oriented versus framed

The Viterbo isomorphism relates the symplectic cohomology of a cotangent bundle to the homology of the free loop space of its base. We lift this to a relation of modules over (1) the complex bordism spectrum MU and (2) the sphere spectrum $\mathbb{S}$. In particular, by a result of Porcelli and the present author [BP26], it is not the case that, in general, the $\mathbb{S}$-level statement recovers the MU-level statement after base-change – even in the case the base is spin.

Hofer-Zehnder capacity as a geodesic selector

We compute the Hofer-Zehnder capacity of the unit disk cotangent bundle of every ellipsoid in $\mathbb R^3$. The capacity is determined by the smaller of two distinguished quantities in the geodesic length spectrum: twice the systole and the length of the shortest simple closed geodesic of Morse index 3. For the lower bound, we use Riemannian billiards on a suitable cut of the ellipsoid. For the upper bounds, we develop two complementary methods. The first combines an argument by Hofer-Viterbo with neck-stretching and yields, more generally, an upper bound for positively curved Riemannian two-spheres in terms of closed geodesics of prescribed index. The second uses the pair-of-pants product in symplectic homology and the Viterbo isomorphism to bound the Hofer-Zehnder capacity of any disk cotangent bundles of Riemannian two-spheres by twice the diastole; for positive curvature, the diastole agrees with the systole.

On Cap-Decorated Floer Persistence modules

For a closed symplectically aspherical manifold, we introduce cap-decorated Floer persistence by refining the action-filtered Hamiltonian Floer persistence module with layers defined by iterated actions of homogeneous cohomology ideals. We prove functoriality and stability of these layers, and construct a universal cap-profile pseudodistance bounded above by Hofer distance. As an application, we obtain new invariants of Hamiltonian conjugacy classes, detecting symplectic mapping-class displacement phenomena invisible to ordinary Floer barcodes and spectral invariants. In particular, for a genus-two surface we construct Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms with identical ordinary Floer data but positive separation in the Hamiltonian-conjugacy quotient.

Hamiltonian Floer Theory for Quantum Electrodynamics up to First Order in $\hbar$

We use Hamiltonian Floer theory to prove a cuplength result about the existence of periodic solutions of particle-field systems with a Gaussian random field. As a concrete model we study stochastic electrodynamics, which approximates quantum electrodynamics up to first order in $\hbar$, and is even exact in the case of low-order Hamiltonians or when the particles are treated classically.

Learning Deterministic and Stochastic Forced Hamiltonian Systems

We develop a geometric framework for learning deterministic and stochastic forced Hamiltonian systems with neural networks. Motivated by the Lagrange-d'Alembert principle and the theory of variational integrators, we introduce the notion of a Lagrange-d'Alembert map and establish a $C^r$ convergence theorem for first-order one-step methods. Building on these results, we propose Generalized Forced Hamiltonian Neural Networks (GFHNNs), a class of structure-preserving neural networks obtained by concatenating Lagrange-d'Alembert-Euler maps, and prove a universal approximation theorem for this architecture. We further extend the framework to parameter-dependent systems, leading to Parametric Generalized Forced Hamiltonian Neural Networks (PGFHNNs). By interpreting the multiple Stratonovich integrals appearing in the Stratonovich-Taylor expansion as parameters, the same framework can be applied to stochastic forced Hamiltonian systems whenever information about the underlying Wiener process is available. Our numerical experiments demonstrate that the proposed geometric architectures provide significantly improved long-time stability and accuracy compared to non-geometric residual neural networks, while requiring substantially less training data to achieve a comparable level of performance.

Outer Contact Billiards

We introduce outer contact billiards as an odd dimensional counterpart to outer symplectic billiards. Until now, outer billiards have only been considered in even dimensional symplectic vector spaces. By projectivizing outer symplectic billiards, we obtain outer contact billiards, where the affine midpoint condition descends to its projective analog, namely harmonic conjugation. We prove that outer contact billiards generate contactomorphisms. For quadratic surfaces in $\mathbb{RP}^3$, we show that the correspondence is completely integrable: its domain is foliated by invariant quadrics and, on each leaf, the dynamics is determined by the iteration of an explicit linear transformation. We also establish two rigidity results for periodic trajectories: outer contact billiards admit no 3-periodic orbits and, among quadratic tables, only one admits 4-periodic orbits.

The ECH and alternative ECH capacities of closed symplectic 4-manifolds

We show that the ECH capacities of every closed symplectic 4-manifold are infinite. We also give the first examples of symplectic 4-manifolds whose alternative ECH capacities are infinite. We verify the ECH Weyl law holds with bounded subleading asymptotics for the alternative ECH capacities of any closed symplectic 4-manifold with $b_2^+=1$ or any smooth domain therewithin.

Surjectivity of real-linear Cauchy–Riemann operators: from the minimal Harder–Narasimhan slope to automatic transversality

This paper relates the minimal Harder–Narasimhan slope to the surjectivity of real-linear Cauchy–Riemann operators. We establish a conformally invariant $L^2$ criterion and an asymptotic slope criterion, which yield higher-rank automatic transversality criteria for pseudoholomorphic curves beyond the classical rank-one framework. Applications to pseudoholomorphic spheres in $S^6$ provide quantitative $L^2$ obstructions to the integrability of almost complex structures.

An almost Kähler Cheeger–Gromoll splitting theorem with applications

In this paper, we establish an almost Kähler analogue of the Cheeger–Gromoll splitting theorem for complete almost Kähler manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature. As applications, we use the splitting to obtain Goldberg-type integrability results and establish a relation between symplectic non-hyperbolicity and nonnegative Ricci curvature via a theorem of Bangert.

On Ruling polynomials of Legendrian links

The ruling polynomial is a Legendrian invariant that is closely related to the augmentation variety of the Legendrian. We characterize all graded and ungraded ruling polynomials, and construct Legendrian links realizing each possible polynomial. The graded augmentation varieties of the Legendrians we construct all have trivial cluster algebra structures. Finally, we construct Legendrian knots admitting $k$ exact Lagrangian fillings with $\chi(L)=n$ that are pairwise smoothly non-isotopic for $n\leq 1$, and $k\geq 0.$

Periodic orbits for perturbations of Zoll contact forms

We consider the perturbation of a Zoll contact form on some prescribed domain of the underlying manifold by multiplying it with a positive function which is constant of value $1$ outside the domain. For every sufficiently $C^0$-small such perturbation we find a periodic Reeb orbit of the perturbed contact form intersecting the domain. As an application, starting from a Zoll Riemannian manifold, we demonstrate that for every exact magnetic field, with $C^0$-small magnetic potential vanishing outside some given domain, there exists a periodic magnetic geodesic intersecting this domain. The theorem is a rather direct consequence of a result which is of independent interest: For Hamiltonians sufficiently $C^0$-close to a defining Hamiltonian, we show existence of a gradient flow line of the corresponding Rabinowitz action functional with a constraint on the position of the cylinder component at $(0,0) \in \mathbb{R} \times \mathbb{S}^1$. This relies on a homotopy stretching argument for the Rabinowitz action functional, in the course of which we have to derive some delicate estimates to ensure compactness of the appearing moduli spaces.

Simplicial Volume and Scalar Curvature on Closed Kähler Surfaces

Let $M$ be a closed Kähler surface. We prove that every Riemannian metric $g$ on $M$ with $\operatorname{Sc}_g\geq-\lambda^2$, where $\lambda\geq 0$, satisfies $$ \lVert M\rVert\leq \frac{27}{2}\,\lambda^4\operatorname{vol}_g(M). $$ This proves Gromov's quantitative scalar-curvature–simplicial-volume conjecture for closed Kähler surfaces. We also construct infinitely many non-Kähler symplectic 4-manifolds of general type with positive simplicial volume for which the same estimate holds.

Relative Logarithmic AKSZ Descent on Joyce Generalized Corners

We study resolution-independent relative logarithmic source complexes for AKSZ-BV-BFV theory on face-oriented Joyce manifolds with generalized corners. Under the geometric hypotheses (G1)-(G3), the Dupont-Panzer-Pym total relative logarithmic complexes of admitted smooth monoidal resolutions represent $j_!\Omega_{X^\circ}^\bullet$ and carry the same compactly supported derived trace. The comparison is deliberately unfiltered: it identifies total relative cocycle classes through the common interior, but not individual resolved faces, separate BFV descendants, nonlinear mapping spaces, or absolute regularized integrals. For the intrinsic $b$-source ${}^{b}T[1]X$ we formulate the additional Stokes and transfer data needed to recover strict facewise structures. A multiplicative regularized Stokes trace system on Joyce's face category gives the presymplectic intrinsic BV-BFV identity and incidence descent. The finite datum (G4) is a linear subdivision/aggregation transfer criterion; (G5) is a separate cyclic field-level criterion for classical abelian BF theory. Neither is a general existence theorem, and no general strict multiplicative intrinsic trace is constructed here. We prove the interval contractions needed for codimension-two collars and analyze the positive real conifold through the common star refinement of its two diagonal resolutions. On an explicit finite product-Whitney logarithmic class the exceptional square satisfies (G4) after normal-face totalization, and the transferred differential is exactly the signed intrinsic incidence differential. Its finite algebraic BF dual gives a cyclic logarithmic-cellular shadow, but not the full continuum intrinsic $b$-de Rham datum (G5). General nonlinear continuum pushforward, existence of the intrinsic multiplicative trace, and loop-level logarithmic graph integrals remain open.

Computing the $U$ maps on ECH of prequantization bundles

The purpose of this paper is to study the $U$-module structure of the embedded contact homology of a class of prequantization circle bundles over closed symplectic surfaces. We assume that the Euler number of each circle bundle is strictly less than the Euler characteristic of the corresponding surface. We give an explicit description of the $U$-map with respect to a basis of filtered ECH defined via cobordism maps. We use the formula for the $U$-map to compute the ECH spectrum and, as an application, the ECH capacities of certain complements of symplectic divisors. Furthermore, we show that the ECH capacities of closed integral symplectic manifolds are infinite.

Skein relations for invariants of Legendrian surfaces

For Legendrian surfaces in 1-jet spaces, we consider augmentation number invariants that together generalize the ruling polynomial of 1-dimensional Legendrian knots and establish skein relations for these invariants. The main skein relation involves four ways of resolving a Legendrian with a double point: perturbing the double point to a contractible Reeb chord in two different ways, and removing the double point via the two Lagrangian surgeries. We apply the skein relations in examples, and use them to provide an alternate proof of the relation between augmentations of Legendrian 2-weaves and face colorings due to Casals, Murphy, and Sackel.

Characterisation of some multivalued harmonic functions on $\mathbb{R}^{n}$

Using different approaches, Simon Donaldson and Dashen Yan recently constructed $\mathbb Z_2$-harmonic functions on $\mathbb R^3$ and on $\mathbb R^n$ for $n\geqslant 3$, respectively. Their examples have quadratic growth at infinity and $\mathcal{O}(r^{3/2})$ local growth near a smooth codimension-two branching set $\Sigma$. We show that these properties uniquely characterise such $\mathbb Z_2$-harmonic functions up to rigid motions of $\mathbb R^n$.

Lifting holomorphic disks from flag varieties to basic affine spaces

Let $G$ be a complex reductive algebraic group, the complexification of a compact Lie group $K$. Consider a holomorphic principal $G$-bundle whose total space contains a $K$-invariant Lagrangian submanifold $L$. We develop a method for lifting holomorphic disks from the base with boundary on $L/K$ to the principal $G$-bundle. We show that the Gross–Hacking–Keel–Kontsevich superpotential restricted to a distinguished class of seeds of the basic affine space is obtained by lifting holomorphic disks in the corresponding flag manifold.

Real Heegaard Floer homology with integral coefficients

We treat the question of upgrading Guth-Manolescu's real Heegaard Floer theory to a $\mathbb Z/2$-graded invariant defined over $\mathbb Z$, specifically for the hat version with one basepoint on each component of the branching link. We provide if-and-only-if obstructions to the existence of relative $\mathbb Z/2$-gradings and $\mathbb Z$-lifts, in terms of purely homological information associated to the 3-manifold with involution. When the corresponding obstruction vanishes, we study the set of such $\mathbb Z$-lifts, which a priori is only an invariant up to a torsor action. The obstruction theory could be of independent interest in various Floer theories more broadly, particularly Lagrangian Floer theory.

On the Positivity of the Products of Positive Primitive Forms

Let $(V_i,\omega_i)$ be real symplectic vector spaces and let $\Omega_i\in\mathcal U^+(V_i)$ in the sense of Haiden. We prove that $p_1^*\Omega_1\wedge p_2^*\Omega_2$ belongs to $\mathcal U^+(V_1\oplus V_2)$ whenever one factor has real dimension at most six. There are forms $\Omega\in\mathcal{U}^+(\mathbb{R}^6)\setminus\mathcal{U}_{\mathrm{ag}}(\mathbb{R}^6)$ for which $p_1^*\Omega\wedge\cdots\wedge p_k^*\Omega$ belongs to $\mathcal{U}^+$ for every $k\geq 1$; hence a conjecture of Kontsevich does not hold in complex dimension three. We also give a criterion for a product to belong to $\mathcal{U}$ and show that, for every $N\geq 26$, there are two forms in $\mathcal{U}^+(\mathbb{C}^N)$ whose exterior product does not belong to $\mathcal{U}$. Homological Mirror Symmetry for Affine Log Calabi-Yau Surfaces

Let $U$ be a smooth complex affine log Calabi–Yau surface, and let $\widehat{U}$ be its complete finite-type Liouville manifold, equipped with its natural grading structure. We give an algorithm that constructs a finite-type quasi-projective $\mathbb{Z}$-scheme $U^\vee$ such that \[ D^\pi\bigl(\mathcal{W}(\widehat{U},\Bbbk)\bigr) \cong D^b\operatorname{Coh}(U^\vee_{\Bbbk}) \] for every field $\Bbbk$. Our main contribution is to construct an almost toric model encoded by an exact eigenray diagram and, using the symplectic Torelli theorem for symplectic log Calabi–Yau pairs, to prove that this model is grading-preserving strongly exact symplectomorphic to $\widehat{U}$. The result then follows from the homological mirror symmetry theorem of Hacking–Keating.

Relative Periodic Orbits in the Gutzwiller-type Anisotropic Kepler Problem and $n$-body Problem

We study the relative periodic orbits in the Gutzwiller-type anisotropic Kepler problem, which is a generalized model derived from the classical Gutzwiller anisotropic Kepler problem. By reducing the rotational symmetry of the $z$-axis, we obtain a reduced system with two degrees of freedom and its energy surface forms a compact and regular three-sphere in a certain parameter range. Combining the estimation of the Seifert rotation number of the planar Kepler orbit and the CHHL formula introduced in \cite{CHHL23}, we prove that this system admits infinitely many periodic orbits on every compact regular energy surface. This model can be applied to the $(1+2n)$-body problem to find infinitely many relative periodic orbits with hip-hop symmetry as well as relative periodic orbits in the $n$-pyramidal problem.

Topological obstructions to geometric positivity and negativity on Calabi-Yau manifolds

We study whether the topology underlying a Calabi-Yau manifold can support natural geometric positivity or negativity structures. In even complex dimension $n \geq 4$ (assuming $b_2=1$ when $n \geq 6$), we strengthen a theorem of Oguiso-Peternell by proving that a Calabi-Yau manifold is not homeomorphic to a weak Fano $n$-fold. The same obstruction applies to Kähler manifolds with quasi-positive holomorphic sectional curvature. A transformation-group analogue excludes, in particular, symplectic manifolds admitting Hamiltonian circle actions with isolated fixed points. On the negative side, we show that the fundamental group of a Calabi-Yau manifold is not isomorphic to that of a Kähler hyperbolic manifold. Taken together, these results exhibit a common topological rigidity separating Calabi-Yau manifolds from several fundamental classes governed by geometric positivity or negativity.

A non-orderable overtwisted contact structure on the sphere

On the symplectic forms of Groechenig's Higgs moduli over an elliptic curve

Gorsky, Nekrasov, and Rubtsov introduced the moduli space of marked Higgs bundles over an elliptic curve $E$ and identified it with the Hilbert scheme of points on the cotangent bundle. Later, Groechenig constructed four analogous isomorphisms on marked rational curves, of affine Dynkin types $\widetilde D_4$, $\widetilde E_6$, $\widetilde E_7$, and $\widetilde E_8$, for the $\Gamma$-Hilbert schemes of $T^*E$ for cyclic groups $\Gamma$ with $|\Gamma|\in\{2,3,4,6\}$. We prove that the isomorphisms in all five cases are holomorphic symplectomorphisms.

Contextuality in the $n$-qubit Pauli group

The $n$-qubit Pauli group is an essential ingredient to most quantum applications, from computing and error correction to benchmarking and simulation. Despite comprising merely a discrete set of operators, it exhibits many quintessential features of quantum theory, including contextuality, which has been identified as a key resource to quantum advantage in a variety of different flavours. Here, we extend this analysis, introducing the notion of a `noncontextual property' whose nonexistence proves the Kochen-Specker theorem, similarly to and generalising common arguments based on the nonexistence of valuations. We relate this notion formally to the existence of Boolean-valued frame functions, and characterise all such frame functions in the case of the $n$-qubit Pauli group. For two qubits, we show that the Pauli group admits noncontextual properties, despite admitting no valuations. We then establish this as the only nontrivial such case with $n\geq 2$, by proving that any Boolean-valued frame function on stabiliser states is constant for more than two qubits. We also perform a similar analysis for the symplectic theory underlying the $n$-qubit Pauli group, for which nonconstant Boolean-valued frame functions exist for all $n$, yet only in restricted form. By comparison, this shows that contextuality in the $n$-qubit Pauli group is not only a consequence of the projective nature of the Pauli group as a representation of its underlying symplectic vector space, but of the geometry of symplectic polar spaces itself. In geometric terms, our result determines all Cameron-Liebler sets of maximal totally isotropic flats in the binary affine-symplectic space.

Construction and Periodicity of Minimal Resolution Graphs of Suspension Singularities

We develop computational tools for constructing the minimal resolution graphs of suspension singularities. In particular, we provide a Magma program that implements Nemethi's algorithm that can be used to construct the minimal resolution graph of any suspension singularity. The program outputs the resulting resolution graph as structured graph data, encoding the vertices, edges, and decorations of the graph. We further develop a SageMath program that takes this data as input and produces graphical representations of the resolution graphs, facilitating their visualization and analysis. For three families of suspension singularities, we prove that the corresponding minimal resolution graphs are periodic, with periods equal to the orders of the corresponding monodromy factorizations. We also provide Magma programs for generating compactified resolution graphs of suspension singularities and checking graph isomorphisms over a specified range of parameters.

On orderability and the chord conjecture

We prove Arnol'd's chord conjecture for a large new class of contact manifolds: for every contact form and every closed Legendrian submanifold there exists a non-constant Reeb chord with endpoints on the Legendrian. This class is characterized by contact non-orderability and rigidity of symplectizations. This proves the chord conjecture for Brieskorn manifolds, many prequantization spaces, and for all prequantization spaces under a mild topological condition on the Legendrians. Moreover, it provides a uniform upper bound on the length of the minimal chord. Our approach involves a new link between Mohnke's construction and contact Hofer geometry.

Ricci-flat metrics from gauged linear $\sigma$-models without RG flow

We investigate a class of Ricci-flat Kähler metrics on generalized conifolds constructed via gauged linear sigma models (GLSMs) with indefinite signature. By introducing shadow coordinates (superfields) entering the sigma model with negative signature kinetic term, we show that these GLSMs yield explicit Ricci-flat metrics on complex cones over products of projective spaces. We provide a general formula for the resulting Kähler potentials, along with detailed examples. Our results suggest new directions for the study of Calabi-Yau metrics and toric geometry, and raise interesting questions about the geometric meaning of indefinite signature models. We also give an interpretation in terms of a novel generalized Kähler gauging.
