Finite Directional Coefficient Modules over Euler Fibers of $A$-Hypergeometric Systems

Let \(A\) be a full-rank integer matrix, let \(\beta\) be a complex parameter, and consider the associated \(A\)-hypergeometric system. Without assuming homogeneity, pointedness, or positivity, we study directed formal logarithmic solutions over all exponent lattices in the Euler fiber. For a fixed lattice-generic direction, negative-support strata are described by rational sign polyhedra, and normalization reduces the coefficient equations on each exponent lattice to a finite directional coefficient module. We prove that only finitely many exponent lattices contribute nonzero directed solution spaces and that all contributing coefficient modules have finite length. Macaulay inverse-system duality identifies the dimension of the all-lattice solution space with the length of the corresponding all-lattice module. We also give an explicit formal-series realization and a polynomial colon-ideal criterion for all realizable lowest exponents.

The Hasse norm principle for $A_4$-quartic extensions of global function fields

For a finite extension of global fields $K/k$, the norm map $N_{K/k} : K^\times \to k^\times$ extends to a map on idèle groups. The Hasse norm principle holds if every element of $k^\times$ that is a norm everywhere locally is also a norm globally. In this paper, we study the statistics of the Hasse norm principle in a setting that is out of reach in the number field context, namely that of $A_4$-quartic extensions. We show that failures of the Hasse norm principle are generally rare for $A_4$-quartic extensions of global function fields $\mathbb{F}_q(t)$. We achieve this by introducing a decorated Hurwitz space parametrising the failures of the Hasse norm principle and then using the Chebotarev density theorem to estimate their frequency.

Nef Cones of Hilbert Schemes of Orthogonal Grassmannians

We show the number of connected components of the Hilbert scheme of orthogonal Grassmannians under certain condition, and use this result to describe the geometry of the Hilbert scheme. Subsequently, we determine the Nef cone of the Hilbert scheme by identifying curves dual to the generators of its Neron-Severi group. Our results generalize those of ordinary Grassmannians by Seong, and our approach adapts his proof technique alongside relevant Schubert calculus.

Membranes and Maps

In positive degree, equivariant Gromov-Witten invariants of Calabi-Yau fivefolds are expected to admit an interpretation in terms of M2-branes, while we conjecture that constant maps are governed by the corresponding supergravity index. We make the first expectation precise by proposing a modular interpretation of M2-branes supported on several smooth curves meeting at an $n$-fold point. Together, the two pictures yield conjectural formulas for the Gromov-Witten invariants, which we translate into closed formulas for pointed and unpointed quintuple Hodge integrals. We show that these conjectures imply a K-theoretic Gromov-Witten/Pairs correspondence for local curves in degree one and link the generating series of constant maps to Donaldson-Thomas theory of points. We also prove the conjectures in two limits of the equivariant parameters. Along the way, we obtain new closed formulas for certain triple Hodge integrals.

A computational approach to maximum likelihood thresholds for colored Gaussian graphical models

Gaussian graphical models (GGMs) are essential tools for interpretable structure learning. However, in high-dimensional, small-sample regimes, the available data is often insufficient for the maximum likelihood estimator to exist. Colored Gaussian graphical models (CGGMs) mitigate this limitation by imposing symmetry constraints through graph coloring, which reduces the required sample size. This minimal number of observations needed to guarantee that the estimator exists almost surely is defined as the maximum likelihood threshold (MLT). Here, we address the computation of the MLT for CGGMs by focusing on its geometric formulation: finding the minimum rank of a sample covariance matrix such that its projection lies almost surely within the interior of the cone of sufficient statistics. We establish a unified theoretical framework, extending results from uncolored to colored models and introducing new symbolic algorithms. Furthermore, we present a computational study integrating sampling with topological data analysis (TDA) to investigate the local geometry of the cone of sufficient statistics. Our results demonstrate the potential of TDA to overcome the computational bottlenecks of traditional symbolic algebraic methods, particularly Groebner basis computations, in analyzing the likelihood geometry of CGGMs.

Frobenius Alexander quandles, knot colorings, and isogeny classes of abelian varieties over finite fields

We introduce the notion of Frobenius Alexander quandles associated with abelian varieties over finite fields, and study them from both knot-theoretic and arithmetic viewpoints. We determine exactly for which rational primes a knot admits a nonconstant coloring by these quandles, in terms of the resultant of its Alexander polynomial and the Frobenius characteristic polynomial of the abelian variety. This leads to the notion of persistent colorability and its characterization, as well as applications to fibered knots and knots of small genus. We also prove a rigidity result showing that the isomorphism class of a Frobenius Alexander quandle determines the similarity class of the Frobenius endomorphism on the corresponding torsion subgroup. As a consequence, one sufficiently large Frobenius Alexander quandle determines the characteristic polynomial of the Frobenius endomorphism, and hence, determines the isogeny class of the abelian variety over the given finite base field.

The Borovik-Cherlin conjecture holds in ACF

We show that every faithful, transitive, and generically $(n+2)$-transitive action of a connected group $G$ on an irreducible variety $X$ of dimension $n > 0$, all defined over an algebraically closed field $F$, is isomorphic to the natural action of the projective linear group $PGL_{n+1}(F)$ on the projective space $\mathbb{P}^n(F)$. More precisely, we establish the Borovik-Cherlin conjecture for permutation groups $(G,X)$ definable in models of $ACF$.

Asymptotics of holomorphic torsion on orbifolds and an equivariant arithmetic Hilbert-Samuel theorem

We compute the $\log p$-part of the asymptotic expansion of the holomorphic torsion of the $p$-th power of a positive line bundle in terms of characteristic classes. This is done for orbifold and equivariant torsions. In the equivariant case the exponents in the expansion are less than or equal to the dimension of the fixed point set. We deduce a corresponding equivariant arithmetic Hilbert-Samuel theorem in Arakelov geometry.

Degree of irrationality of abelian surfaces

Let $A$ be a complex abelian surface. We prove that $A$ admits a dominant rational map of degree three to $\PP^2$ if and only if it admits a polarization of type $(1,1)$, $(1,2)$, $(1,3)$, or $(1,6)$. Consequently, the degree of irrationality of $A$ is $3$ precisely in these four cases and is $4$ otherwise.

Integrable Generators of Polynomial Vector Fields for Complex Classical Lie Groups

We consider in this paper complex Lie groups $\mathrm{SL}_n(\mathbb{C})$ for $n\geq 2$, $\mathrm{SO}_n(\mathbb{C})$ for $n\geq 5$, and $\mathrm{Sp}_{2n}(\mathbb{C})$ for $n\geq 1$. We show that for any such Lie group, the Lie algebra of polynomial vector fields can be generated by three $\mathbb{C}$-complete polynomial vector fields.

Groups of Transverse Stratifications and the Hierarchy of Configuration Spaces

We introduce a broad family of groups $G(\Gamma)$ associated with transverse stratifications of moduli spaces. For a wide class of stratifications satisfying a natural local condition (transverse niceness), we construct a homomorphism from the fundamental group of the moduli space to the corresponding group $G(\Gamma)$. This general theorem, which is proved in the companion paper \cite{Manturov2026}, provides a far-reaching generalization of the $G_n^k$-theory. The main goal of the present paper is to discuss numerous examples and situations where the transverse niceness property actually occurs. We describe various moduli spaces and stratifications that are transversely nice. In particular, we study the hierarchy of configuration spaces of points in the plane defined by algebraic curves and establish the transversality property for conic configurations. The general hierarchy problem is formulated in the final section.

Contact fundamental forms and adjoint varieties

We introduce contact symbol systems, a noncommutative analogue of symbol systems for projective fundamental forms, by replacing the polynomial algebra on a vector space by the graded dual of the universal enveloping algebra of a Heisenberg algebra. For a complex projective submanifold equipped with a contact structure, we define contact fundamental forms and prove that, at a general point, they form a contact symbol system, which gives a contact version of the classical result due to E. Cartan. Conversely, we prove that every contact symbol system can be realized as the contact fundamental forms of a projective variety with a dense open Heisenberg orbit, called the Heisenberg-symmetric variety associated to the contact symbol system. We show that the closure of a projectivized nilpotent orbit in a simple Lie algebra is Heisenberg-symmetric if and only if it is the adjoint variety, namely, the projectivization of the minimal nilpotent orbit. For adjoint varieties of non-symplectic simple Lie algebras, we prove the contact analogue of the Landsberg–Manivel strict prolongation property by using Yamaguchi's prolongation theory.

As an application, we obtain a rigidity result with vanishing second Chern class for logarithmic cotangent bundles by combining the vanishing theorem with a structure theorem of Iwai and Matsumura.

Essential Dimension and Faithful Rank of Finite p-Gerbes

Let $p\neq\operatorname{char}(k)$. We extend the Karpenko–Merkurjev theorem from classifying stacks of finite $p$-groups to arbitrary finite gerbes whose geometric inertia groups are $p$-groups, without assuming that the gerbe is neutral or that its band is represented by a group scheme over the base field. We prove that the essential dimension at $p$ is exactly the minimum faithful rank obtained after prime-to-$p$ base change, equivalently the faithful rank over a $p$-closure. We also prove a relative form of the theorem for locally full morphisms of finite $p$-gerbes: the relative faithful rank equals the supremum of the essential $p$-dimensions of the fibers. Finally, we introduce the quotient compression dimension, defined using tame quotient singularities with prescribed fundamental gerbe. For every finite $p$-gerbe $\mathcal{G}/k$ we show that its prime local version satisfies $$ \mathrm{ed}_k(\mathcal{G};p) \leq \operatorname{qcdim}_p(\mathcal{G}) \leq \mathrm{ed}_k(\mathcal{G};p)+1. $$ Thus essential dimension at $p$ determines, up to at most one dimension, the smallest quotient singularity realizing the gerbe after prime-to-$p$ localization.

The bounded area class of negatively curved surfaces

Let $S$ be an oriented surface, possibly of infinite type, endowed with a complete Riemannian metric with pinched negative curvature. We prove that the area form defines a non-trivial class in the second bounded cohomology group of $S$, unless $S$ is diffeomorphic to the disc or the cylinder. This is in sharp contrast with the $n$-dimensional case, $n>2$, where the non-triviality of the volume form in bounded cohomology is related to the Cheeger constant of the manifold. We also discuss how the bounded area class depends on the metric: we prove that, for compact surfaces, it recognizes constant curvature metrics among pinched negatively curved ones, while, even in the case of surfaces of infinite type, it does not distinguish non-isometric hyperbolic structures. More precisely, when $S$ is compact we show that, among the negatively curved structures of fixed area, the ones with constant curvature provide the unique minimizers for the norm of the bounded area class.

A linear bound for Fujita's freeness conjecture

Let $X$ be a smooth complex projective variety of dimension $n$, and let $L$ be an ample Cartier divisor. We prove that $K_X+mL$ is globally generated for every integer $m\geq\lceil C_0n\rceil$, where $C_0=1.77629\ldots$ is an explicit constant. In particular, $K_X+2nL$ is globally generated. We also prove that if $Z$ is a normal projective variety of dimension $n$ with $K_Z$ Cartier, nef and big, then $|mK_Z|$ defines a birational map for every integer $m\geq1+\lceil C_0n+3\sqrt{2\mathrm{e}n}\rceil$. Our main input is a new estimate for the multiplicity of a minimal log canonical center. If $(X,\Delta)$ is log canonical near a closed point $x$ but is not klt at $x$, and $W$ is the positive-dimensional minimal log canonical center through $x$, then $2\overline{e}_1(\mathfrak m_{W,x})\leq\bigl(\dim W-\operatorname{lct}_x((X,\Delta);\mathfrak m_x)\bigr)\operatorname{mult}_xW$, where $\overline{e}_1(\mathfrak m_{W,x})$ is the first normal Hilbert coefficient of the maximal ideal of $\mathcal O_{W,x}$. This implies $\operatorname{mult}_xW\leq \frac{(a+c)^{a+c}}{a^ac^c}$, where $a:=\frac{\dim W-\operatorname{lct}_x((X,\Delta);\mathfrak m_{x})}{2}$ and $c:=\operatorname{edim}\mathcal O_{W,x}-\dim W$.

$A_1$ - Coulomb branches over finite fields and Selberg Character sums

Motivated by mirror symmetry, we study exponential sums over the $\mathbb{F}_q$-points of the $A_1$ Coulomb branch. Parabolic Lie algebroid connections on parabolic principal bundles over curves

Let $X$ be a compact connected Riemann surface and $S\,\subset\, X$ a finite subset. We consider parabolic principal $G$–bundles $\mathcal{E}_{G}$ on $X$ with parabolic structure on $S$, where $G$ is a connected complex reductive affine algebraic group. Let $P\, \subset\, G$ be a parabolic subgroup and $\mathcal{E}_{P}\, \subset\, \mathcal{E}_{G}$ a reduction of structure group of $\mathcal{E}_{G}$ to $P$. We give a criterion for the existence of a parabolic Lie algebroid connection on $\mathcal{E}_{P}$ for any given parabolic Lie algebroid on $(X,\,S)$ whose anchor map is not surjective. More precisely, $\mathcal{E}_{P}$ admits a parabolic Lie algebroid connection if the reduction $\mathcal{E}_{P}\, \subset\, \mathcal{E}_{G}$ is parabolically infinitesimally rigid. In particular, the Harder–Narasimhan reduction of $\mathcal{E}_{G}$ admits a parabolic Lie algebroid connection.

Cohomology characters on the incidence correspondence

We investigate the cohomology of line bundles on the incidence correspondence, the partial flag variety parametrizing pairs consisting of a point in projective space and a hyperplane containing it. In characteristic zero, this cohomology is governed by the Borel-Weil-Bott theorem. In characteristic p>0, however, it becomes considerably subtler, and admits an equivalent reformulation in terms of cohomology tables for divided powers of the cotangent bundle on projective space. Our approach to the problem involves passing to infinitesimal thickenings of the incidence correspondence inside the ambient product of projective spaces. This leads to recursive formulas for the cohomology, generalizing earlier work of Donkin, of Liu, and of Gao-Raicu. We obtain generating functions for cohomology characters, expressed using truncated Schur polynomials and symmetric polynomials encoding the higher structure constants of the Verlinde algebras of SU(2) at levels (p-2) and (2p-2). Along the way, we exploit two important connections with multiplication in the graded Green-Han-Monsky representation ring: one relates this ring to cohomology, and another connects to the Verlinde algebras through the work of Coulembier-Etingof-Ostrik.

Fourier–Mukai loci are open and base change

We develop a theory of relative (quasi-)perfect complexes for algebraic spaces. Our main result proves that for a pseudocoherent kernel relatively perfect over both factors, the loci where its fiberwise Fourier–Mukai transform is fully faithful or an equivalence are open. The kernel need not be perfect, and these loci commute with Noetherian base change. Moreover, we provide an explicit autoequivalence for elliptic fibrations, and establish that smoothness and Gorensteinness are derived invariants.

Resultant multiplicity via projective degrees and applications to tensor eigenvalues

Given a system $\mathbf{f}=(f_1,\ldots,f_n)$ of $n$ homogeneous forms in $n$ variables of the same degree, Macaulay's resultant vanishes precisely when the polynomials have a common projective zero. Its order of vanishing measures the singularity of the resultant hypersurface at $\mathbf{f}$. In this paper, we study how this multiplicity reflects the geometry of the projective zero scheme defined by $\mathbf{f}$. We give an exact formula for the multiplicity, expressed in terms of the projective degrees of the rational map defined by $\mathbf{f}$. As a consequence, we obtain a geometric lower bound involving the degrees, dimensions, and multiplicities of the irreducible components of the projective zero scheme. This extends the multiplicity estimates of Roy and Ghidelli from zero-dimensional schemes to schemes of arbitrary dimension. Finally, we apply this geometric estimate to tensor eigenvalues. It translates directly into a lower bound for the algebraic multiplicity of a tensor eigenvalue in terms of the geometry of its eigenscheme. This settles a conjecture by Canino et al. and consequently settles earlier conjectures of Qi and of Hu and Ye concerning the relationship between algebraic, geometric, and span multiplicities of tensor eigenvalues.

Towards Categorical Kähler Geometry

We outline the contours of an emerging theory of Kähler metrics in derived noncommutative geometry. This is a refinement of the theory of Bridgeland stability conditions encoding underlying differential-geometric structures. We propose elements of such a structure in both Archimedean and non-Archimedean settings, including metrized objects, mass measures satisfying a BPS inequality, harmonic metrics, minimizing flows, and complexified Kähler potentials. We develop the framework through examples and constructions involving Fukaya categories, quiver representations and associated C$^*$-algebras, spectral networks, and comonadic adjunctions of stable $\infty$-categories.

On Algebraic Integrability of Vector Fields with Rational Function Coefficients that Separate Variables

We work over a field of characteristic zero - primarily over an algebraic closure of the field of rational numbers. We prove a necessary and sufficient condition for a vector field whose coefficients are rational functions separating variables to be algebraically integrable, that is, the subring of rational functions killed by this vector field, its ring of first integrals, is of maximal possible dimension. We do it arithmetically by reducing the vector field modulo almost all primes. In particular, we verify the generalized Grothendieck–Katz p-curvature conjecture for foliations defined by these vector fields. Finally, we use the outcome of that verification to provide explicit formulas for coefficients of all algebraically integrable vector fields separating variables, and their first integrals.
