We characterize Griffiths positivity of vector bundles on smooth projective varieties by a finite-dimensional convex condition on first jets of sections of positive twists. A nonzero positive matrix-valued measure annihilated by the adjoint Levi operator gives the dual obstruction. We also give an explicit bundle on an abelian surface that satisfies the first-level condition, but whose complete untwisted evaluation has a differential kernel.

Tropicalization and degeneration of short flag varieties and their fibers
Tropicalizations of Grassmannians resp. flag varieties parametrizing (flags of) linear spaces have been studied intensely and reveal rich combinatorial structure. Linear degenerations of flag varieties provide ways of interpolating between products of Grassmannians and flag varieties. Tropical versions of these have been introduced recently, but their combinatorial description and computation remains a challenge. We consider a particular case which allows the use of matroidal methods, namely linear degenerate short flag varieties parametrizing tuples of linear spaces such that a projection of one is contained in the other. Their fibers turn out to be linear spaces themselves under mild assumptions, which allows a comprehensive combinatorial description of their tropicalizations, and accordingly, of tropicalizations of linear degenerate short flag varieties.

Optimal Fast Charging of All-Solid-State Batteries under Cathode Transport Constraints
Fast charging of all-solid-state batteries is limited by solid-state transport in the positive electrode, which can generate substantial concentration nonuniformity under aggressive charging. We formulate fast charging as a minimum-time boundary-control problem for a one-dimensional cathode diffusion model, subject to a terminal average-concentration target and a path constraint on the bulk-to-surface concentration difference. For constant diffusivity, we prove existence of a global minimizer and show that every minimum-time policy is maximal-feasible: the charging rate remains at its upper bound until the transport constraint becomes active and subsequently follows the active boundary. This structure motivates an offline-online strategy in which precomputed PDE responses are combined through low-dimensional algebraic operations, avoiding repeated PDE-constrained optimization. Numerical refinement and perturbation studies verify the predicted control structure and constraint satisfaction. We further investigate concentration-dependent diffusivity, quantify the robustness of the constant-diffusivity policy under model transfer, and introduce a blockwise nonlinear correction that restores admissibility when the transferred policy violates the transport constraint.

Multiform Longest Edge Bisection of Tetrahedra via Sextuple Permutations
We introduce a new formulation of the Longest Edge Bisection (LEB) of tetrahedra entirely in sextuple space R6, where tetrahedra are represented by the squares of their edge lengths. This representation renders the LEB refinement equations fully linear and eliminates the need for coordinate-based data structures. A central difficulty in three-dimensional LEB arises when a tetrahedron possesses multiple longest edges, making the refinement rule intrinsically multivalued. We formalize this phenomenon through the notion of Multiform Longest Edge Bisection (MLEB), which systematically explores all admissible longest-edge choices. To encode this multivalued behavior, we introduce the concept of bisection patterns, defined as sequences of sextuple permutations governing the refinement process. We prove that the set of sextuples sharing a common LEB pattern forms a convex region in R6. For structurally significant families of tetrahedra, including the R1+ family and the Liu-Joe family, we show that the infinite refinement tree collapses into a finite directed graph with eight states. Remarkably, both families are governed by the same graph, differing only in their initial state. This directed-graph formulation provides a unified combinatorial description of the refinement process and offers an efficient computational framework for deep iterative LEB analysis.

Irrational Seshadri constants from dihedral orbits
We construct an irrational one-point Seshadri constant on the blow-up $X_9$ of $\mathbb{P}^2$ at nine very general points. The divisor $L=9H-3(E_1+\cdots+E_5)-2(E_6+\cdots+E_9)$ is ample and satisfies $\varepsilon(L;x)=2\sqrt{5}$ at a very general point $x\in X_9$. To prove this, we establish that the Seshadri constant of $\mathcal{O}_{\mathbb{P}^1\times\mathbb{P}^1}(1,1)$ at ten very general points is $1/\sqrt{5}$, completing the reflection approach proposed by Dionne and Roth for the ten-point case. We also prove that the same equality holds at a very general free orbit of a fixed dihedral group of order ten. This yields an irrational one-point Seshadri constant on the singular quotient surface. A plane model of its minimal resolution and a deformation of the blow-up centers then give the result on $X_9$.

Interpolation of subspaces of infinite codimension
Given three normed spaces $X\_0 , X\_1 , \tilde{X\_1}$, with $\tilde{X\_1}$ a closed subspace of $X\_1$ with same norm, how does $[X\_0 , X\_1 ]\_\theta$ compare to $[X\_0 , X\_1 ]\_\theta\,? This classical problem of interpolation theory has been mostly considered in the case of finite codimensional subspaces. We show here that quotient J norms are a useful tool which allows to tackle several relevant cases.

An upper-symbol approach to $\Phi^4_d$ limits of Bose gases
We study the high-temperature derivation of $\Phi^4_d$ measures from grand-canonical Bose gases on two- and three-dimensional tori. Building on the upper-symbol variational approach of the author's earlier work, we use relative entropy to give a simple, unified proof of relative free-energy convergence and Hilbert–Schmidt convergence of all fixed-order rescaled reduced density matrices to their Hartree counterparts. For interaction ranges $\varepsilon=\lambda^\eta$, where $\lambda$ is the inverse temperature, these results hold for every fixed $0<\eta<1/2$ in two dimensions and $0<\eta<1/26$ in three. In two dimensions, we improve the result of Jougla and Rougerie (2026) and the local $\Phi^4_2$ derivation of Fröhlich, Knowles, Schlein and Sohinger (2025). Combined with classical approximation, the two-dimensional result gives the first local $\Phi^4_2$ derivation valid for every fixed exponent $0<\eta<1/2$, allowing polynomial exponents arbitrarily close to the diluteness threshold from below. In three dimensions, we use the identification of the local measure and the stationary SPDE estimates of Nam, R.~Zhu and X.~Zhu (2025). From these estimates we strengthen their classical correlation convergence to the Hilbert–Schmidt norm. This yields the local limit at every fixed order in the same polynomial range.

A Separable Hilbertian Operator Space with CBAP and No Completely Bounded Basis
Liu and Ruan showed that a separable operator space has the completely bounded approximation property if and only if it admits a completely bounded frame. We show that, even for Hilbertian operator spaces, such a frame need not give rise to a completely bounded basis. More precisely, we construct a separable Hilbertian operator space with the $1$-CBAP but with no completely bounded basis. Our construction relies on a theorem of Oikhberg that provides a structural description of the completely bounded maps on a suitable operator space.

Ample vector bundles without Griffiths-semipositive metrics
We construct a rank-two ample holomorphic vector bundle on an abelian surface that admits no smooth Griffiths-semipositive Hermitian metric, thereby giving a counterexample to the Griffiths conjecture. The proof combines a curvature obstruction that persists under deformations with the openness of ampleness in an irreducible moduli space of stable sheaves.

Representation-tame Geiß-Leclerc-Schröer algebras and a revised GLS conjecture on root systems
Using Galois covering theory and equivariant techniques, we classify all connected representation-tame Geiß–Leclerc–Schröer (GLS) algebras in terms of their defining triples $(C,D,\Omega)$. We then study the GLS algebras $H(\widetilde{CD}_n)$ with minimal symmetrizers, where $n\geq 2$ and $\widetilde{CD}_2=\widetilde{B}_2$. By realizing these algebras as basic algebras of $\mathbb{Z}_2$-skew group algebras of the string algebras $H(\widetilde{C}_{2n-2})$, we introduce extended strings and extended bands to parameterize the connected components of the Auslander–Reiten quivers of $H(\widetilde{CD}_n)$ and determine their shapes. We further classify the indecomposable $\tau$-locally free modules over representation-tame GLS algebras of affine type and show that their rank vectors form precisely the set of positive roots together with explicitly described non-root vectors in the positive cone of the root lattice. This yields a precise revision of the GLS conjecture for representation-tame GLS algebras of affine type.

Inference for Hüsler-Reiss block models
Estimating the Hüsler-Reiss precision matrix is a fundamental problem for statistical inference in multivariate extremes. In high-dimensional settings, the number of unknown parameters grows quadratically with the dimension, making regularisation indispensable. Existing approaches regularise the estimation problem by exploiting sparsity. In this paper, we consider an alternative structural assumption, namely that the Hüsler-Reiss precision matrix is block-structured. To estimate such a matrix, we introduce a new regularisation framework based on a convex fusion penalty. By encouraging rows and columns to merge, this approach provides a parsimonious representation of the precision matrix, allowing for the simultaneous estimation of its coefficients and the underlying partition of the variables. The resulting convex optimisation problem is solved by an efficient algorithm combining gradient-based updates with progressive fusion steps. We establish non-asymptotic concentration bounds for the empirical weights entering the penalty and prove consistency of both block recovery and precision matrix estimation under suitable regularity conditions. Numerical experiments demonstrate that our methodology accurately recovers the latent block structure while accurately estimating the Hüsler-Reiss precision matrix across various configurations, illustrating the practical benefits of fusion-based regularisation for multivariate extremes. These benefits are also demonstrated by applying the proposed method to foreign exchange data.

Stable base change from unitary groups in three variables and integral relation of automorphic periods
Let $E$ be a real quadratic field and let $U_E$ be the quasi-split unitary group in three variables associated with $E$. We prove a $p$-adic divisibility between the automorphic periods of a cuspidal automorphic representation $\pi_U$ of $U_E$ and the periods of its Rogawski stable base change to $\mathrm{GL}_3(E)$. This generalizes earlier works of Tilouine-Urban and Hida in the case of $\mathrm{GL}_2$. The divisibility we prove involves a new kind of automorphic periods for self-conjugate cuspidal automorphic representations of $\mathrm{GL}_3(E)$, defined within the middle degree of the cuspidal cohomology rather than the top or bottom degrees. Moreover, we prove an à la Hida adjoint $L$-value formula for $\mathrm{GL}_3(E)$, relating these newly defined middle-degree periods to the usual top and bottom automorphic periods. Finally, we also prove a similar formula for $U_E$, which is the first instance of such a result for quasi-split unitary groups.

Brauer webs of finite and affine type
We introduce and develop an integral diagrammatic framework for two new monoidal categories, the finite and affine B-web categories. They arise naturally from representation categories of type BCD Lie algebras, and can be viewed as a Brauer type generalization of the affine web category which we introduced earlier. Integral bases consisting of bubbled elementary diagrams are established for the finite and affine B-webs. A simplified presentation of these categories over a field of characteristic zero is also obtained.

Chromatic Purity of Dualizable Categories
We develop the chromatic theory of dualizable stable categories, with chromatic purity for continuous $K$-theory at its center. We generalize the chromatic purity theorem for algebraic $K$-theory to continuous $K$-theory of dualizable stable categories and reformulate it as the purity of $H$-unital rings. Using categorical completion theory, we construct chromatic fracture squares and obtain a refinement of chromatic purity: for every dualizable stable category $\mathcal{C}$, the $T(n)\oplus T(n-1)$-completion map induces an equivalence $$ K_{T(n)}^{\mathrm{cont}}(\mathcal{C})\xrightarrow{\simeq}K_{T(n)}^{\mathrm{cont}}(\mathrm{Nuc}_{T(n)\oplus T(n-1)}(\mathcal{C})). $$ We also establish chromatic descent for continuous $K$-theory of dualizable homotopy fixed points and prove a categorical nuclear refinement of descent. This framework allows us to lift redshift bounds, Tate vanishing, and blueshift from spectra to dualizable stable categories. We show that the $T(n)$-completion of a rigid symmetric monoidal stable category is equivalent to the dualizable limit of module categories over a tower of type $n$ generalized Moore spectra. As applications, we prove that both nuclear solid and nuclear gaseous module categories satisfy chromatic redshift.

Coarse rigidity in von Neumann algebras via derivations
Motivated by the interaction between amenability and first cohomology into tempered representations of groups, we propose a notion of relative coarse rigidity for $\sigma$-finite von Neumann algebras through modular derivations and their associated GNS-symmetric quantum Markov semigroups. This extends Peterson's framework of $L^2$-rigidity to the nontracial setting. Our main result shows that the absence of relatively amenable summands forces the associated deformations to converge on relative commutants in ultrapowers. For diffuse von Neumann algebras with separable predual, this yields a dichotomy between the presence of an amenable summand and rigidity in terms of central sequences. Combining this principle with mixing and compactness, we provide a novel unified approach for proving indecomposability properties such as fullness, primeness and stable solidity. Applications yield new examples of relatively $\omega$-solid and relatively stably solid type III von Neumann algebras arising from amalgamated free products, operator-valued free Araki-Woods constructions, cocycle crossed products, and twisted nonsingular discrete measured groupoids.

Non-determinism in group actions and topological minimal self-joinings
We study the topological and geometrical aspects of non-determinism in group actions, generalizing the notion of non-expansive direction for abelian actions. Under suitable conditions on the acting group, we establish restrictions on the collection of non-deterministic horoballs (or half-spaces) for any action. We illustrate our results in the case of free and nilpotent groups, expanding upon known cases for abelian groups. We then apply these findings to standing problems concerning minimal self-joinings in topological dynamics, which are of independent interest.

Linear Robin-type Domain Decomposition scheme for Mixed Formulation of Richards' Equation
In this work, we present a linear Robin-type domain decomposition scheme for solving the mixed formulation of Richards' equation (mLRDD-scheme), governing flow in variably saturated porous media. Assuming a highly heterogeneous porous medium consisting of multiple blocks/layers of distinct materials, we apply non-overlapping domain decomposition to isolate individual materials, yielding near-homogeneous conditions within each subdomain. Richards' equation is discretized in time by backward Euler and linearized using the L-scheme. A Robin-type interface condition, consistent with the mixed formulation, is then derived to couple the subdomains. For spatial discretization, mixed finite elements are employed, ensuring local mass conservation and providing the flux variables consistent with the Robin condition. The convergence of the proposed scheme is rigorously proved. Heterogeneous, multidomain numerical examples in 2D/3D are presented to demonstrate the efficiency and robustness of the scheme, along with numerical validation of the theoretical convergence results.

A divisibility of automorphic periods for the real quadratic base change of $\mathrm{GL}_3$
We prove a $p$-adic divisibility between the automorphic periods of a cuspidal automorphic representation $\pi$ of $\mathrm{GL}_3(\mathbb{Q})$ and the periods of its Arthur-Clozel base change to a real quadratic field $E$. As a corollary, we establish a divisibility predicted by the Bloch-Kato conjecture for the adjoint motive of $\pi$ twisted by an even quadratic character. This generalizes earlier works of Tilouine-Urban and Hida in the case of classical modular forms. The divisibility we prove involves a new kind of automorphic periods for conjugate self-dual cuspidal automorphic representations of $\mathrm{GL}_3(E)$, defined within the middle degree of the cuspidal cohomology instead of the top or bottom degrees. Moreover, we prove an à la Hida adjoint $L$-value formula for $\mathrm{GL}_3(E)$ that relates these newly defined middle-degree periods to the usual top and bottom automorphic periods.

Stochastic motion of massless particles near event horizons in Schwarzschild and Reissner-Nordström spacetimes
In classical general relativity, it is well known that radially moving massless particles in the exterior region take infinite coordinate time to reach the event horizon in black hole spacetimes. In this short paper, we use two stochastic versions of ingoing radial null geodesic equation to study the stochastic radial motion of massless particles in Schwarzschild and Reissner-Nordström spacetimes. We show that the probability that a radially moving massless particle enters the black hole in finite coordinate time remains zero. This indicates the stochastic perturbations of quantum effects preserve certain properties of classical black holes.

Basic Reproduction Ratios for Almost Periodic Non-Densely Defined Cauchy Problems
The theory of the basic reproduction ratio $R_0$ is established for the almost periodic non-densely defined Cauchy problems. Firstly, we present some dynamical properties of the linear almost periodic non-densely defined Cauchy problems. Then we define the evolution semigroups on the space of almost periodic functions, investigate their infinitesimal generators and define the basic reproduction ratio $R_0$. Finally, our developed theory is applied to age-structured models and functional differential systems.

A Counterexample to a Conjecture of Moreto
As an extension of the It^o-Michler theorem to the nonabelian or nonnormal Sylow subgroups, A. Moreto raised the following conjecture: let G be a finite group and P a Sylow p-subgroup of G. Then the number of irreducible characters of G whose degrees are divisible by p is not less than the length of any subgroup chain between N_G(P) and G. In this short note, we give a counterexample to this conjecture.

Ext-groups of graded comodules
Let $\Gamma$ be a coalgebra over a field. There is a well-known covariant embedding of the category of graded $\Gamma$-comodules into the category of graded modules over the dual algebra $\Gamma^*$. We show that this covariant embedding preserves Ext-groups in a range of motivating cases, including in some cases like Steenrod algebras where the covariant embedding has otherwise bad homological properties and fails to preserve Ext-groups on the underlying ungraded categories. As an application, we prove the old conjecture in stable homotopy theory that there are no nonzero projectives in the category of graded comodules over the dual Steenrod algebra. As another application, we carry out a study of the right adjoint to the extended comodule functor, including a topological interpretation of this right adjoint. This yields generalizations of formulas of Margolis and Lin characterizing maps from Eilenberg-Mac Lane spectra into finite-type bounded-below spectra; our generalizations drop the "finite-type" hypothesis.

Refining invariants of finite groups with class functions
Many numerical invariants of a finite group arise as the multiplicity of the trivial character in a naturally associated class function, and the remaining multiplicities carry finer structural information. For the number of conjugacy classes of elements whose order involves only a chosen set of primes, the natural such class function is a generalized character interpolating between the classical conjugating character and the regular character. We prove that it is a character in two important general cases, obtained independently by Robinson, and we rule out a family of groups and characters in which, we argue, a counterexample would be most likely to arise. Furthermore, we characterize when these class functions are compatible with passing to a subgroup and thereby sharpen a theorem of Sangroniz. The analogous class function for real elements is shown to always give a character. Finally, we give a dual construction that, together with the recently proved McKay Conjecture, yields a best-possible criterion for a finite group to have an abelian Sylow $p$-subgroup.

Fast Karhunen-Loève Expansions via FFT-Accelerated Toeplitz Operators
Gaussian random fields are a versatile tool used in the fields of stochastic PDEs, uncertainty quantification, and geostatistical simulation. One way to obtain them is to use a truncated Karhunen-Loève expansion (KLE). Computing the expansion requires the leading eigenpairs of an $N \times N$ covariance matrix, where $N$ is the total number of grid cells. These are usually computed with a Krylov eigensolver, which relies on the covariance operator only within matrix-vector products. Stored densely, the matrix takes $\mathcal{O}(N^{2})$ memory and each product $\mathcal{O}(N^{2})$ time. For a stationary kernel on an equispaced grid, the covariance matrix becomes (block-) Toeplitz and the product evaluates in $\mathcal{O}(N\log N)$ time using FFT-based circulant embedding, without the need to assemble the dense matrix. In a matched single-threaded comparison, the median speedup of the eigensolve grows from $18 \times$ at $N = 4096$ to $183 \times$ at $N = 2^{15}$. This makes it possible to compute discretized fields that would otherwise be infeasible to compute in the standard formulation. We show that the same construction carries over to non-separable kernels as well as $d$ dimensions, using block-Toeplitz matrices. We extend it to piecewise-constant fields on arbitrary domains given as subsets of a tensor grid. Computational savings grow with problem size, and storage drops from $\mathcal{O}(N^{2})$ to $\mathcal{O}(2^{d}N)$.

Homoclinics, rogue waves and breathers in nonlinear lattice wave equations
We prove the existence of rogue waves and breathers in nonlinear lattice wave equations including the nonlinear Klein–Gordon and the FPUT lattice (with added local forces). The main feature of our lattice wave equation is that the kinetic part $\frac{\mathrm{d}^2}{\mathrm{d}t^2}$ is multiplied by a non-constant function $\frac{1}{d(t)}$ such that gaps in the spectrum of $\frac{1}{d(t)}\frac{\mathrm{d}^2}{\mathrm{d}t^2}$ open wide enough to include the spectrum of the spatial linear operator. We find solutions as critical points of an indefinite functional using a saddle-point method combined with concentration-compactness arguments. In case of temporally $T$-periodic coefficients and under identical assumptions as for rogue waves, the same variational method also provides existence of breather solutions whose temporal period is an arbitrary prescribed integer multiple of $T$.

The construction of infinitely many distinct examples relies on a novel equivariant torus surgery.
