Brauer graph algebras are closed under stable equivalence of Morita type

We study stable equivalences of Brauer graph algebras. In particular, we prove that Brauer graph algebras are closed up to semisimple summands under stable equivalence of Morita type. As a consequence, we reprove the result of Antipov and Zvonareva that Brauer graph algebras are closed under derived equivalence. As a byproduct, we get a solution of the reconstruction problem posed by Rickard and Rouquier for algebras stably equivalent of Morita type to Brauer graph algebras.

Reducibility of linear representations, free ideals, and Kippenhahn's conjecture

This paper presents a comprehensive study of the characteristic polynomial of matrix tuples and finite dimensional group representations. Among other things, several key concepts are introduced, including the minimal polynomial, spectral index, spectral stability, and characteristic graph. Notably, this framework provides a complete resolution to Kippenhahn's conjecture, settling a long-standing and influential problem in the theory of matrix tuples.

Kostant–Kumar modules: presentation and multiplicities

Kostant–Kumar modules $K(\lambda,w,\mu)$ are submodules of a tensor product $V(\lambda)\otimes V(\mu)$ of irreducible highest weight modules over a symmetrizable Kac–Moody algebra, indexed by Weyl group elements $w$; their decomposition numbers $c^\nu_{\lambda\mu}(w)$ refine ordinary tensor product multiplicities. We study them module-theoretically. We show that $c^\nu_{\lambda\mu}(w)$ is computed by a natural quotient of the Kostant–Parthasarathy–Ranga Rao–Varadarajan multiplicity space, via orthogonal projection onto a Demazure module. For $\mathfrak{g}$ finite-dimensional semisimple or symmetric Kac–Moody, we present $K(\lambda,w,\mu)$ by generators and relations, extending the presentation of Demazure modules due to Joseph, Polo and Mathieu. We apply the presentation to obtain upper bounds on $c^\nu_{\lambda\mu}(w)$ and to study Schur positivity.

Cleft Extensions for Hopf Algebroids without Antipodes

We introduce cleft extensions for Hopf algebroids. We prove the equivalence between cleft extensions, $\sigma$-twisted crossed products, and Hopf-Galois extensions with the normal basis property, thereby generalizing the theory of cleft extensions for Hopf algebroids developed by Böhm and Brzeziński, and fitting in with the general theory of Galois and biGalois extensions over Hopf algebroids developed by the authors. We investigate the Ehresmann Hopf algebroid associated with a cleft extension and show that it is isomorphic to a generalized version of the Connes-Moscovici Hopf algebroid. A special case of the Connes-Moscovici Hopf algebroid, namely the case where the coinvariants of the cleft extension coincide with the base of the Hopf algebroid, is a Drinfeld twist of a Hopf algebroid by a two-cocycle, generalizing work of Böhm, Han and Majid.

Exactness and Drinfeld-Sokolov Realization of the McRae-Yang Tensor Functors

Let $p,q\ge 2$ be coprime, set $k=-2+p/q$, $k'=-2+q/p$, and let $c_{p,q}=1-6(p-q)^2/(pq)$. We prove that the McRae–Yang functors $F_{p,q}\colon KL^k(\mathfrak{sl}_2)\to\mathcal O_{c_{p,q}}$ and $F_{q,p}\colon KL^{k'}(\mathfrak{sl}_2)\to\mathcal O_{c_{p,q}}$ are exact and faithful, and, as $\mathbb C$-linear functors, are naturally isomorphic to the corresponding principal quantum Drinfeld–Sokolov reductions. Their restrictions to projective objects are fully faithful.

Specht Modules With Trivial Direct Summands

We prove that, in characteristic $2$, a Specht module indexed by a nonhook partition cannot have a trivial direct summand. The proof uses the KLR grading and a recent graded homomorphism theorem of Hudak. Together with Murphy's theorem for hooks, this gives the complete classification of trivial direct summands of Specht modules in characteristic $2$, answering a question posed by Collins–Dodge and Dodge–Van Vlack.

Synthetic Buildings for Finite Groups

We introduce synthetic buildings for each finite group $G$ and prime $p$. These are $G$-simplicial complexes, among which are the $p$-subgroups complex of K.S. Brown, and also the buildings of finite groups of Lie type in characteristic $p$. Synthetic buildings are useful because of special properties, including providing a formula for the cohomology of $G$. Our goal is to describe the kinds of synthetic buildings that can arise, and ideally to classify them. The minimal synthetic buildings play a special role and for most groups there are not very many of these. However, we show that it is possible to find sequences of finite groups with increasingly many minimal synthetic buildings as we move along the sequence, and also groups with minimal synthetic buildings of different dimensions. It is also possible to find groups with infinitely many non-minimal synthetic buildings of a given dimension. In other situations, we show that there are no minimal synthetic buildings of equivariant homotopy type distinct from those of Brown's complex and the complex consisting of a single point. We make a number of conjectures.

Langlands Duality and Invariant Differential Operators: the Case SL(2n+1)

Recently we started building a bridge between two cases of Langlands duality. The latter is one of the most influential topics in mathematical research. It has many different appearances and influential subtopics. Yet there is a topic that until now seems unrelated to the Langlands program. That is the topic of invariant differential operators. That is strange since both items are deeply rooted in Harish-Chandra's representation theory of semisimple Lie groups. We started with the case of the group ~$SL(2n)$. In the present paper we deal with the group $SL(2n+1)$. The two mentioned groups are similar, but their representation theories is rather different.

Moduli of super-representations of quivers

In this note, we construct moduli spaces of super-representations of quivers by extending King's Geometric Invariant Theory (GIT) framework to the super setting. Using the even part of super general linear groups and a parity-shifting operator, we construct moduli spaces that topologically parameterize super-representations of a fixed super-dimension. We also outline the construction of super quiver varieties for super-representations of framed quivers (without doubling); and realise super-Grassmannians and super-flag varieties as geometric quotients within this setting.

Categorification of the genus two DAHA

We construct three derived endofunctors on the derived category of graded integrable representations of the current algebra of a flat degeneration of $D(2|1,\alpha)$, and prove that their classes in the Grothendieck group are the genus two Macdonald operators. Computing the graded $\operatorname{Ext}$ pairing explicitly, we deduce the self-adjointness of the genus two Macdonald operators and the orthogonality of genus $2$ Macdonald polynomials with respect to the certain skew-bilinear form.

Homogeneous Weights on Semigroup Algebras of Finite Commutative Semigroups

The determinant of a finite semigroup is closely related to the Frobenius property of its corresponding semigroup algebra, and it plays a significant role in coding theory applications. In this paper, we study determinants of twisted contracted semigroup algebras over finite fields. We extend Steinberg's determinant theory to this setting by establishing a Frobenius criterion for twisted contracted semigroup algebras over finite fields. We also develop a structural theory for two-generated twisted contracted monoid algebras. In particular, we identify classes for which the determinant of the associated matrix depends only on its zero–nonzero pattern, and is therefore independent of the values of the cocycle. Consequently, it suffices to verify the determinant condition for the trivial character, from which the corresponding result for all characters follows. Under suitable assumptions, these semigroups are completely determined by a small set of defining identities. Motivated by the character-theoretic construction of homogeneous weights on finite Frobenius rings, we construct homogeneous weights for Frobenius twisted contracted semigroup algebras and investigate the non-Frobenius case. In particular, we characterize the principal ideals on which the character-average weight satisfies the averaging property of homogeneous weights and thereby extend the classical notion of homogeneous weight to a prescribed family of principal ideals.

$g$-vector fans and picture categories for 0-Auslander extriangulated categories

We extend the notion of $\mathbf{g}$-vector fan so that it is defined for a Hom-finite Krull-Schmidt 0-Auslander $k$-linear extriangulated category $\mathcal{C}$ with a projective silting object $T$. Moreover, we show that the $\mathbf{g}$-vector fan admits an admissible partition, in the sense of the second-named author, which is induced by thick subcategories. One can thus define the picture category of $\mathcal{C}$. We establish a bijection between thick subcategories of $\mathcal{C}$ generated by presilting objects containing all projective-injective objects and $\tau$-perpendicular subcategories of the endomorphism $k$-algebra of $T$. This shows that our construction unifies all previous constructions of picture categories and $\tau$-cluster morphism categories of finite-dimensional algebras. We introduce morphisms of partitioned fans to provide a common framework for the functorial relationships between picture categories of different algebras and categories.

Absolutely flat algebras in tensor categories

We study the relation between semisimple algebras, artinian simple algebras, and artinian absolutely flat algebras in ind-completions of tensor categories (rigid abelian monoidal categories). Our main results show that the three types of algebras coincide, if we restrict to commutative algebras in certain (all, if we accept the main conjectures in the field) symmetric tensor categories of moderate growth. We also provide examples to show that in general these notions tend to diverge, contrary to the classical case of algebras over a field. In one appendix we give the first, to the best of our knowledge, example of a tensor category with finite-dimensional morphism spaces but objects of infinite length. In a second appendix we establish a generalisation of Deligne's theorem that tannakian categories are neutral over algebraically closed fields.

Minimal Nilpotent Orbits of type G2, F4 and E8

Let $\mathfrak g$ be a complex simple Lie algebra of type $G_2$, $F_4$, or $E_8$. We prove that the closure $\overline{\mathcal O}_{\min}(\mathfrak g)$ of its minimal nilpotent orbit is not isomorphic to $(T^*X)^{\mathrm{aff}}$ for any smooth quasi-affine variety $X$. We do not assume that the isomorphism is equivariant or Poisson. We also prove the same statement in types $A_1$ and $A_2$.

Nilpotent orbits of sl(n,R) admit no Gibbs state

Gibbs states are probability distributions defined on Hamiltonian G-manifolds. They are parametrized by an open set of the Lie algebra g and arise as natural equilibrium states with regard to the action of G on the system. In this paper, we focus on nilpotent orbits of SL(n,R). We show that for n>2, those orbits do not admit any Gibbs state.

The fusion-stable tom Dieck homomorphism

Tornehave and Yalçin proved that the tom Dieck homomorphism, which sends a virtual real representation to a unit of the Burnside ring, is surjective for any $p$-group $S$. We prove that this homomorphism, and the sign homomorphism it factors through, remain surjective when restricted to fusion-stable subgroups associated to a saturated fusion system on $S$. As a corollary, we close the main question posed by Mazza–Miller in arXiv:2508.07404 by showing that given a field $k$ of positive characteristic, the Lefschetz homomorphism from the Picard group of the bounded homotopy category of $p$-permutation modules to the unit group of its Grothendieck ring is surjective for all finite groups if and only if $k = \mathbb{F}_2$.

Monodromy of plane curve singularities and quiver mutation

The main result of this article shows that the quiver mutation class of a malleable real Morsification uniquely determines the integral monodromy module of a plane curve singularity. In particular, we show that the quiver mutation class of a malleable divide determines the complex topological type of an irreducible plane curve singularity. This establishes the algebraic-to-topological implication of a conjecture of S.~Fomin, P.~Pylyavskyy, E.~Shustin and D.~Thurston in the malleable irreducible case. The result is proven by developing representation-theoretic techniques based on an equivariant Euler pairing in the derived category of continuous finite-dimensional dg modules over a differential bigraded Ginzburg algebra. A key step uses these techniques to show that the quiver mutation class of a plabic fence uniquely recovers the torsion part of the Alexander module of the associated smooth link.

Subregular affine cells and the level $-1$ vertex algebra of type $D$

We prove the simple-object prediction of Shan–Yan–Zhao and a basis-preserving dual-cell realization for the distinguished vacuum block of the simple affine vertex algebras $L_{-1}(D_\ell)$, $\ell\ge5$. The block has exactly $\ell+1$ simple objects, indexed by the subregular affine left cell containing $s_0$. The proof combines a primitive-ideal inclusion, an independent exhaustion argument, and a finite-length step. A noncritical Sugawara lift supplies finite-dimensional weight-space detectors in the original Shan–Yan–Zhao category-$\mathcal O$ block, so dévissage applies to its ordinary Grothendieck group. We then identify this group, basis by basis, with the $q=1$ specialization of the corresponding dual affine left-cell module. An injective signed normalized-character realization identifies the resulting image with the canonical dual-cell image in the completed singular-orbit module and hence supplies the corresponding abstract $\widehat W$-module structure. We do not identify this action with a functorial action arising from affine twisting functors or Kashiwara–Tanisaki localization. The subregular inverse Kazhdan–Lusztig calculation of Bezrukavnikov–Kac–Krylov also yields uniform character formulas.

Modules over the Takiff Block type Lie algebra

In this paper, we introduce a family of infinite-dimensional Lie algebras $B(q)$ of Takiff Block type, containing Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra, $W$-algebra $W(2,2)$, and BMS-Kac-Moody algebra as subalgebras. For $q\in\mathbb C^*$, we classify the $ B(q)$-modules that are free of rank one over $U(\mathfrak h)$, where $\mathfrak h=\mathbb C L_{0,0}\oplus\mathbb C W_{0,0}$, and determine their irreducibility and isomorphism classes. We also establish irreducibility and isomorphism criteria for their tensor products with irreducible restricted modules. Finally, restricting the above $B(-1)$-modules to several natural subalgebras of the central quotient $B(-1)/(\mathbb C C_1\oplus\mathbb C C_2)$ yields families of non-weight modules.

The $D^{\Delta}$-pair biset category

Let $p$ be a prime number. A $D^{\Delta}$-pair is a pair consisting of a finite $p$-group and a $p'$-automorphism of the group. In this paper, we introduce diagonal $D^\Delta$-pair bisets and a category whose objects are $D^\Delta$-pairs and whose morphism groups are Grothendieck groups of diagonal $D^\Delta$-pair bisets. Our main result shows that, over suitable coefficient rings, the category of diagonal $p$-permutation functors is equivalent to the category of linear functors on a natural quotient of this new category. In this way, diagonal $p$-permutation functors can be studied through a category built only from finite $p$-groups and their automorphisms of $p'$-order.

Artin algebras of small representation bound

This paper introduces a novel classification approach for representation-finite artin algebras in terms of the maximal length of their indecomposable modules of finite length, which we call the representation bound. To this end, we develop methods to compute almost split sequences and establish lower bounds for the lengths of the Auslander-Reiten translates of certain modules over artin algebras. We apply these techniques and results to explicitly classify artin algebras of representation bound $n$ for each positive integer $n \le 4.$

Scopes equivalence for blocks of Ariki-Koike algebras

We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for a block of an Ariki-Koike algebra to have the property that all its associated multipartitions have no addable node with a given residue. This leads to a classification of Scopes equivalence classes for Ariki-Koike algebras in terms of their pyramid numbers and Scopes vectors, generalising that for level 1 and for core blocks. Our proof is independent of the results of Richards for level 1.

A Proof of Gluck's Conjecture

For a finite group $H$, let $\nu(H)$ denote the maximum order of a nilpotent subgroup of $H$. We prove that every finite solvable transitive permutation group $P$ on a finite set $\Omega$ has a subset $\Delta\subseteq\Omega$ such that $|P:P_\Delta|\ge\nu(P_\Delta)$. We also prove that if a finite solvable group $H$ acts faithfully and completely reducibly on a finite module $V$, then some $x\in V$ satisfies $|H:H_x|\ge\nu(H_x)$. Consequently, we settle Gluck's well-known conjecture, open since 1985: every finite solvable group $G$ satisfies $|G:\mathbf{F}(G)|\le b(G)^2$, where $\mathbf{F}(G)$ is the largest normal nilpotent subgroup of $G$ and $b(G)$ is the largest degree of an irreducible complex character of $G$.

Non-unitarity outside the fundamental parallelepiped

One of the challenges of the unitary dual problem is the daunting number of possible representations to consider. This article describes an approach to narrowing the search space for minimal principal series representations, in terms of the “fundamental parallelepiped” (or “FPP”): the set of linear combinations of fundamental weights with coefficients in the interval $[0,1]$. An earlier conjecture of the author, which was rooted in work of Barbasch and then subsequently vastly generalized by Vogan (and recently proven by Davis and Mason-Brown), asserts that the FPP houses all dominant infinitesimal characters for which minimal principal series have a unitarizable quotient. We present a technique to prove this “FPP inequality” in specific examples, demonstrated here for the split real form $E_{8(8)}$, by introducing a limiting theory of intertwining operators as $\nu$ approaches $\infty$ in directions of fundamental weights. This limiting theory is inspired by Wilfried Schmid's work on variation of Hodge structure. As an application, we show that the unitary set for a particular minimal principal series consists of the closure of a single open alcove.

Hochschild Cohomology, Modular Tensor Categories, and Mapping Class Groups II

In the first part of this work, we have, for a not necessarily semisimple modular category, generalized the action of the mapping class groups of surfaces on the spaces of conformal blocks to the so-called derived block spaces. In the second part presented here, we compute this action explicitly in the case of Drinfel'd doubles of finite groups over fields of positive characteristic. To do that, we connect Lyubashenko's approach to mapping class group representations with the theory of representation varieties. In this way, we are able to show that the mapping class group representations on the derived block spaces are in general different from those on the ordinary block spaces.

Type C Richardson Boundaries and Newton-Okounkov Degenerations of Odd-Dimensional Projective Space

We compare two mirror-theoretic degeneration pictures attached to odd-dimensional projective space. If \(\PP^{2n-1}\) is viewed as a toric variety, one obtains the classical toric mirror. If it is viewed as the type \(C_n\) homogeneous space \(Sp_{2n}/P_1\), Rietsch's Lie-theoretical construction gives a superpotential on the dual side. We compute the type \(C_n\) boundary \(D_C\), while on the dual-side Lusztig torus we compute the corresponding Laurent polynomial. We construct Newton–Okounkov bodies, and in each case the degree-augmented value semigroup is identified with the lattice-point semigroup of the cone over the polar dual of the corresponding Newton polytope. This gives two toric degeneration pictures attached to the same projective space. We also exhibit a rank-one weight degeneration connecting \(D_C\) with the standard toric boundary while keeping the ambient projective space fixed.

Square root crystals and the square root of $B(\infty)$

We introduce a general monoidal category of $\mathbf{N}$-root crystals and then study the special case of square root $\mathfrak{gl}_n$-crystals. The latter objects include Yu's crystals on semistandard set-valued tableaux. Prior work of the first author, Tong, and Yu showed that regular square root $\mathfrak{gl}_n$-crystals can be a useful tool for proving Grothendieck positivity results. The objects studied here go beyond the regular case and allow us to construct a square root analog of the direct limit crystal $B(\infty)$. We give several descriptions of our square root of $B(\infty)$, using marginally large tableaux, the Lusztig or PBW parameterization, and the Nakashima–Zelevinsky polyhedral model. We show that this crystal has a simple character formula, exhibits a nontrivial Demazure filtration, and recovers Yu's semistandard set-valued tableau crystals after taking appropriate tensor products. We also investigate a number of differences between square root crystals and classical crystal constructions.
