Universal Enveloping Algebras of Hom-Lie Algebras with $\alpha$-Derivations

In this paper, we construct nonunital universal enveloping Hom-associative algebras for multiplicative Hom-Lie algebras equipped with $\alpha$-derivations. We prove that the prescribed derivation extends to the enveloping algebra and that the resulting universal property yields a left adjoint to the commutator functor between the corresponding categories. When the twisting map is bijective, we establish a canonical isomorphism between this enveloping algebra and the twist of the nonunital universal enveloping algebra of the associated untwisted Lie algebra. This isomorphism preserves the twisting maps and the derivations. Consequently, the classical Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt theorem identifies the associated graded algebra for the untwisted product with the positive-degree symmetric algebra. When the Hom-Lie algebra is finite-dimensional, the resulting PBW basis consists of ordered monomials of positive length. The twisting map, the extended $\alpha$-derivation, and its untwisted counterpart preserve the PBW filtration.

Proof of Nobori's generalized Böttcher-Wenzel inequality conjecture

Let $m,n\ge 2$. For $m\times n$ complex matrices $A$, $C$ and an $n\times m$ matrix $B$, Nobori (Linear Algebra Appl. 725 (2025) 135–144) proposed the following conjecture on the generalized Böttcher-Wenzel inequality: $$ \|ABC-CBA\|_F^2 \le 2\|B\|_2^2\|A\|_{(2),2}^2\|C\|_F^2, $$ where $\|\cdot\|_F$ is the Frobenius norm, $\|\cdot\|_2$ is the spectral norm, and $\|\cdot\|_{(2),2}$ is the $(2,2)$-norm defined by $\|X\|_{(2),2}=\sqrt{\sigma_1(X)^2+\sigma_2(X)^2}$, in which $\sigma_1(X)$ and $\sigma_2(X)$ are the largest and second largest singular values of $X$, respectively. This paper proves the conjecture and, as a consequence, establishes the Kronecker product inequality that Nobori derived from it. In addition, we show that for each fixed $m,~n\ge 2$, the constant $2$ is sharp. We also give necessary and sufficient conditions for equality, namely, the equality condition in the Böttcher–Wenzel inequality and some matrix identities derived from a fixed singular value decomposition.

The Coproduct of Ideals and the Coprime Spectrum

We introduce the coproduct of ideals and the notion of coprime ideal, extending the Heyting-algebra perspective on ideal lattices to arbitrary commutative rings. The resulting coprime spectrum is a topological space, defines a covariant functor on CF-morphisms of commutative rings, i.e. morphisms that extend ideals and are coprime faithful, classifies fields among integral domains, and in dual rings is homeomorphic to the prime spectrum. This offers an elementary, lattice-theoretic counterpart to the geometric study of nilpotents.

The finite basis problem for varieties generated by all semirings of a fixed order

Let $\Avar_n$ and $\VV_n$ be the varieties generated by all $n$-element additively idempotent semirings (ai-semirings) and all $n$-element semirings with commutative addition, respectively, in the signature $(+,\cdot)$ without constants. We prove that both varieties are finitely based if and only if $n\leq2$. The five-element case follows from cyclic identities and a structural analysis of products of squares. For $n\geq6$, each variety contains a finite inherently nonfinitely based ai-semiring. We also prove $\VV_n\cap\AI=\Avar_n$ for every $n$, where $\AI$ is the variety of all ai-semirings.

Symmetry reductions and recurrence degrees for banded Toeplitz determinants and permanents

This paper studies symmetry-induced reductions of scalar recurrence complexity for balanced banded Toeplitz determinants and permanents. Three mechanisms emerge: determinant state and spectral compression, exceptional permanent–determinant conversion, and symmetries of permanent state spaces. For symmetric determinants, straightening reduces the row-column states from $\binom{2m}{m}$ to the Catalan number $C_{m+1}$; primitive symplectic weight compression then leaves $(3^m+1)/2$ distinct autonomous modes. Skew symmetry has a parallel compound/Hodge explanation: the middle exterior representation splits into two Hodge halves of dimension $\binom{2m}{m}/2$, the one-step compound transfer exchanges the halves, and its two-step restriction has $3^{m-1}$ generic ternary modes. Thus the full skew bound is $2\cdot3^{m-1}$. Widom–Hankel arguments prove generic scalar minimality in both symmetry classes, and every even skew Toeplitz determinant admits an explicit half-size square factorization. For the zero-diagonal pentadiagonal support, a Pólya–Kasteleyn signing converts every permanent to a determinant. Among consecutive zero-diagonal two-sided bands, universal entrywise conversion—and separately Toeplitz diagonal-wise conversion—occurs only in the Hessenberg families and this pentadiagonal case. Paired renewal identities recover all restored-diagonal determinant and permanent layers. For permanents, transposition gives the open symmetric bound $(\binom{2m}{m}+2^m)/2$, while cyclic defect-sector pairing gives $(4^m+\binom{2m}{m})/2$. Skew-symmetry forces odd-size vanishing and corresponding even-subsequence bounds. In semibandwidth two the open symmetric bound is generically sharp; higher-semibandwidth permanent minimality is left separate from the symmetry reductions proved here.

Associativity of the $\star$-product of skew braces

For braces, associativity of the $\star$-product is equivalent to two-sidedness. We extend this result to skew braces by proving that any two of the following conditions imply the third: two-sidedness, associativity of the $\star$-product, and centrality of $A\star A$ in the additive group. We then study two-sided skew braces with associative $\star$-product through the radical ring associated with their additive abelianization. This yields a canonical fibre-product description modulo an annihilator ideal, exact sequences relating higher $\star$-products to the powers of the radical ring, coincidence of the left, right and strong $\star$-series, and sharp bounds on their nilpotency indices. We also obtain an explicit description of the lower central series, classify the structures whose additive abelianization is infinite cyclic, and characterize when they are bi-skew.

From $\tau$-tilting to $\tau_2$-tilting via splitting tilting triples

Let $(A,T,B)$ be a splitting tilting triple. We provide a construction of $\tau_2$-tilting $B$-modules from $\tau$-tilting $A$-modules. On the other hand, if $A$ is hereditary, by considering the mutation of a certain two-term silting complex of $A$ and its image under the derived equivalence $\mathbf{R}{\rm Hom}_A(T,-):D^b(A)\to D^b(B)$, we get a three-term silting complex ${\bf W}$ of $B$. Under an explicit non-vanishing condition on the cones of morphisms between the two summands, we prove that ${\rm H}^0\boldsymbol{W}$ is a basic $2$-tilting $B$-module and that it coincides with the module obtained from the first construction. As an application, we generalize the construction of Peng from tilting modules to $\tau$-tilting modules. We also determine the endomorphism algebra of the constructed module as an explicit triangular matrix algebra, which is derived equivalent to $A$ and $B$ whenever the constructed module is $2$-tilting, and give a full semi-orthogonal decomposition of $K^b(\operatorname{proj}A)$.

$\boldsymbol{i}$-conjugate for quaternionic matrices and related properties

Motivated by the result that a complex $n\times n$ matrix $A$ being unitarily equivalent to a real matrix, we extend the conclusion to the quaternion skew field in this paper, we present a necessary and sufficient condition for that a quaternion $n\times n$ matrix $A$ is unitarily equivalent to a complex matrix. To state the truth more clearly, we put forward the concept which we call $\boldsymbol{i}$-conjugate. Furthermore, we study the concepts related to $\boldsymbol{i}$-conjugate and their properties, such as unitary $\boldsymbol{i}$-congruence, $\boldsymbol{i}$-conjugate normality and $\boldsymbol{i}$-Hermicity in $M_{n}(\mathbb{H})$ as generalizations of the conventional unitary congruence, conjugate normality and Hermicity of matrices in $M_{n}(\mathbb{C})$. Finally, we present a new type of polar decomoposition of quaternion matrices.

The $\phi$-conjugation of quaternionic matrices and generalized Autonne-Takagi factorization

Let $\phi$ be a quaternion of modulus $1$. In this article, we study some topics related to $\phi$-conjugation for quaternionic matrices, including $\phi$-Hermitian matrices, $\phi$-conjugate normal matrices, unitary $\phi$-congruence and $\phi$-HSH decomposition (decomposition of a $\phi$-Hermitian matrix and a skew $\phi$-Hermitian matrix). In particular, we generalize the Autonne-Takagi factorization of quaternion $\phi$-Hermitian matrices for all unit quaternion $\phi$. This gives an affirmative answer to a problem proposed by R. Horn and F. Zhang in the paper “A generalization of the complex Autonne-Takagi factorization to quaternion matrices, Linear Multilinear A. 60: 1239–1244, 2012”.

Positive Eigenvalues of Hadamard Square Roots on Finite Abelian Groups

For a finite abelian group $G$, let $\mu_2(G)$ be the minimum number of positive eigenvalues of an entrywise positive real symmetric group-circulant matrix whose entrywise square is positive definite. We prove that $\mu_2(G)\le5$ precisely when $|G|\le15$, and that $\mu_2(G)=6$ precisely when $|G|=16$ or $G$ is cyclic of order $18$, $20$ or $22$. For the noncyclic groups of order at most fifteen, the minimum is three for $C_2^2$ and five otherwise. If the positive Fourier support of such a matrix is $\{0,\pm r_1,\ldots,\pm r_d\}$, where $d\ge1$ and all $2d+1$ displayed elements are distinct, then there are integers $\alpha_1,\ldots,\alpha_d$, not all zero, such that $\sum_i\alpha_i r_i=0$ and $\sum_i|\alpha_i|\le\max\{5,d+2\}$. The bound five is sharp for $d=2$ and $d=3$.

On the positive semidefinteness of a class of Hermitian Cauchy-like matrices

We establish the positive semidefiniteness of a class of Hermitian Cauchy-like matrices associated with real Hurwitz polynomials having distinct zeros. Writing the zeros as $-\lambda_1,\ldots,-\lambda_n$, the matrix entries are defined through ratios of elementary symmetric polynomials in the variables $\lambda_i$. The result extends an earlier positivity theorem obtained under the assumption that all zeros are real. We first show that the coefficients appearing in the denominators are nonzero, so that the matrices are well defined. We then construct an explicit congruence between each matrix and the solution of a Lyapunov equation whose state matrix is in companion form. Positive semidefiniteness follows from a recent result on such equations with entrywise nonnegative right-hand-side data. This approach establishes the extension to complex zeros through the connection between structured matrices and Lyapunov equations.

Cohomology, Extensions and Deformations of restricted Lie triple systems

The main purpose of this paper is to provide a cohomology theory of restricted Lie triple systems in low degrees and their algebraic interpretations. We define restricted cochains up to degree 5, together with the corresponding coboundary operators. Moreover, we provide interpretations of the low-degree restricted cohomology groups in terms of restricted derivations, extensions of restricted modules, formal deformations, and extensions of restricted Lie triple systems.

Moreover, we prove that Jacobson identities hold in pre-Lie triple systems in positive characteristic and then introduce the notion of restricted pre-Lie triple system.

Super adaptable graphs and the realization problem

We introduce and study the family of super adaptable monoids, which includes, among many others, all conical refinement monoids that are either finitely generated, or countable, primely generated, and regular. Our main result shows that any countable super adaptable monoid can be realized by a von Neumann regular ring, thus answering affirmatively the Realization problem for this class. The result is new even for the subclass of countable, primely generated, regular conical refinement monoids, which we show can be realized by both a von Neumann regular ring and a purely infinite, real rank zero C*-algebra. To prove this result, we develop a systematic framework that connects three fundamental structures: abstract monoids, separated graphs (a specific class of colored graphs), and von Neumann regular rings. By establishing functorial connections among these classes, we translate several algebraic properties of monoids into combinatorial and ring-theoretic notions. This allows us not only to prove the main realization result, but also to obtain several characterizations of super adaptable monoids. As a particular application, these can be used to provide a complete characterization of which regular monoids arise as graph monoids. To our knowledge, this work offers the first self-contained treatment in the literature where the complete realization process —from abstract monoids through I-systems and separated graphs to regular rings and C*-algebras— is developed sequentially and in full detail within a single text.

Noncommutative resolutions of noncommutative isolated singularities

Noncommutative resolutions of AS-Gorenstein isolated singularities are investigated by Li–Shen–Wu. However, establishing their existence and constructing such resolutions are generally difficult, even when they exist. In this paper, we study conditions under which a commonly graded AS-regular algebra serves as a noncommutative resolution of an AS-Gorenstein isolated singularity. We investigate projective modules over a noetherian commonly graded AS-regular algebra whose endomorphism rings admit resolutions by the underlying regular algebra. This leads to a more general definition of noncommutative resolutions of balanced Cohen–Macaulay isolated singularities. We show that the existence of such resolutions is equivalent to the existence of cluster tilting modules over balanced CM isolated singularities. The corresponding noncommutative analogue of the Bondal-Orlov conjecture is established in dimensions $2$ and $3$. As an application, we study Hopf actions on commonly graded AS-Gorenstein algebras and investigate noncommutative resolutions of invariant rings. We present three examples of noncommutative resolutions, including one in which the noncommutative isolated singularity is not connected graded.

A classification of group gradings on incidence algebras over commutative rings

Let $R$ be a commutative ring with 1, $P$ a locally finite partially ordered set, and $G$ a group. We derive necessary and sufficient conditions for an $R$-algebra isomorphism between the incidence algebra $I(P,R)$ and the group algebra $RG$. Then, for an indecomposable ring $R$, a finite poset $P$ and an arbitrary group $G$, we classify the $G$-gradings of $I(P,R)$ up to graded isomorphism. The classification rests on a complete set of primitive orthogonal homogeneous idempotents. The corner algebras are split group algebras of finite abelian subgroups of $G$, and the off-diagonal Peirce blocks are multiplicity-free sums of bimodules induced from characters of double coset stabilizers. Graded isomorphisms are shown to have a rigid form, and a grading is determined up to graded isomorphism by the poset of idempotents, the corner groups, the types of the atomic bimodules and the structure constants of their multiplication. The data which occur are characterized by polynomial conditions, and over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero only finitely many graded isomorphism classes share given partial invariants. An example shows that the structure constants cannot be omitted. Some previous results are extended and enhanced, while providing alternative proofs for some known facts.

Just-Infinite Loops and Loop Algebras

Let $F$ be a field and let $L$ be a loop. We call $L$ just-infinite if it is infinite and every nontrivial normal subloop has finite index, and we call the possibly nonassociative loop algebra $F[L]$ just-infinite if it is infinite-dimensional and every nonzero two-sided ideal has finite codimension. We first prove that just-infiniteness of $F[L]$ always implies just-infiniteness of $L$. Next, using the Chein construction, we show for every infinite group $G$ that $M(G,2)$ is just-infinite if and only if $G$ is just-infinite, and that $F[M(G,2)]$ is just-infinite if and only if $F[G]$ is just-infinite. We extend the algebraic equivalence to the generalized Moufang doubles $M(G,*,g_0)$ whenever $G$ is infinite and nonabelian. Finally, we construct a single locally finite, residually finite, nonassociative Moufang loop $L$ for which $F[L]$ is residually finite-dimensional, locally finite-dimensional, and just-infinite over every field, and we explain why infinite nonassociative RA loops cannot be just-infinite.

Directed partial orders on the complex number field

We construct a class of positive cones that make $\C$ into a directed partially ordered ring. The positive cones are defined using integral closures of local rings, associated with a transcendence basis and a chosen real generator. A localization criterion also yields such orders on every transcendental extension of $\Q$. For a fixed coefficient field, we prove that two real generators define the same cone if and only if they differ by an affine map with positive real-algebraic slope and translation algebraic over that field. The nonzero positive elements are closed under inversion. None of these orders is a lattice order.

Polynomial identities, central polynomials and cocharacters of $M_2(F)$ with $G$-graded involution

Let $F$ be a field of characteristic zero, $G$ be a finite abelian group and $M_2(F)$ be the algebra of $2\times 2$ matrices over $F$. In this paper, we consider all $G$-graded involutions on $M_2(F)$ and determine the generators of the $T_{(G,*)}$-ideal of identities and of the $T_{(G,*)}$-space of central polynomials of $M_2(F)$. Moreover, we explicitly compute the $\langle n\rangle$-cocharacter and the $n$-th $(G, *)$-codimensions for most of the gradings. For the case of gradings by the Klein group, the $(G, *)$-central codimensions and proper central $(G, *)$-codimensions are also explicitly computed.

Range-compatible homomorphisms on Hermitian matrices

Let $\mathbb{D}$ be a division ring with an involution $x \mapsto x^\star$, and $n \geq 2$ be an integer. Denote by $\mathcal{H}_n(\mathbb{D})$ the set of all $n$-by-$n$ Hermitian matrices with entries in $\mathbb{D}$, and by $\mathcal{A}\mathcal{H}_n(\mathbb{D})$ the set of all matrices $A-A^\star$ with $A \in \mathcal{M}_n(\mathbb{D})$. Here, we give a complete solution to the following problem: Determine all group homomorphisms from $\mathcal{H}_n(\mathbb{D})$ to $\mathbb{D}^n$ (respectively, from $\mathcal{A}\mathcal{H}_n(\mathbb{D})$ to $\mathbb{D}^n$ unless $(-)^\star$ is the identity) that take every matrix to a right linear combination of its columns. The solution to this problem was already known when $(-)^\star$ is the identity, and the novelty here lies in the generalization to arbitrary involutions, and in particular in the noncommutative case. These results are to be used in a subsequent article on subspaces of Hermitian matrices of bounded rank, and on large spaces of diagonalisable matrices.

Transposed Triple Products and Pro-Symmetric Rings in $\ast$-Rings

This paper investigates properties concerning transposed triple products in rings. Motivated by Cline's formula, we characterize symmetric rings by means of group invertible elements and EP elements. We prove that a unital ring $R$ is symmetric if and only if $abc\in R^{\sharp}$ implies $acb\in R^{\sharp}$ for all $a,b,c\in R$. In particular, we give an answer to the problem posed in \cite[Problem 2.9]{MW1}. An example is provided to illustrate that for a symmetric ring $R$, $abc=e$ does not generally yield $acb=e$. For $\ast$-rings, we introduce the notion of pro-symmetric rings: a ring $R$ is pro-symmetric if $abc\in P(R)$ implies $acb\in P(R)$ for all $a,b,c\in R$. We show that every pro-symmetric ring is symmetric. Several counterexamples are constructed to distinguish these classes of rings, and their mutual inclusion relations are also discussed.

On $\ast$-Reversible and Generalized $\ast$-Reversible Rings

Let $R$ be a $\ast$-ring with $a,b\in R$. A ring $R$ is said to be $\ast$-reversible if $ab=0$ implies $b^{\ast}a=0$. In this paper, we first establish several new characterizations of $\ast$-reversible rings and reversible rings. In particular, we prove that $\ast$-reversible rings coincide with $\ast$-symmetric rings. Using these characterizations, we introduce two new classes of generalized $\ast$-reversible rings: pro-$\ast$-reversible rings and nil-$\ast$-reversible rings. A ring $R$ is called pro-$\ast$-reversible if $ab\in P(R)$ implies $b^{\ast}a\in P(R)$, and $R$ is nil-$\ast$-reversible if for every $c\in N(R)$, $cb=0$ yields both $b^{\ast}c=0$ and $cb^{\ast}=0$. The basic properties and characterizations of pro-$\ast$-reversible and nil-$\ast$-reversible rings are investigated. The interrelationships among all these ring classes are considered. The related examples to distinguish these rings are constructed.

Generalized $t$-Fine and Quasi $t$-Fine Rings

Fine rings and generalized fine rings have been extensively studied through additive decompositions involving units and nilpotent elements. In this paper, we develop analogous decompositions involving torsion units. We introduce and study {\it generalized $t$-fine} rings, in which every element outside the Jacobson radical is expressed as a sum of a torsion unit and a nilpotent element. We establish several basic properties of these rings and prove, in particular, that when the nilpotent elements form a subring, a ring is generalized $t$-fine if and only if it is local and every unit is torsion. We further investigate the behaviour of this property for matrix rings, endomorphism rings of finite abelian groups, and group rings, obtaining several structural and characterization results. We then introduce the broader class of {\it generalized quasi $t$-fine} rings by replacing nilpotent elements with quasinilpotent elements. We provide examples that illustrate the difficulties in characterizing this class, and investigate its behaviour for matrix rings and group rings.

Locally finite Schreier Varieties

A variety $\mathcal{V}$ is called a Schreier variety if every subalgebra of a $\mathcal{V}$-free algebra is a $\mathcal{V}$-free algebra. We use ideas from Tame Congruence Theory to classify locally finite Schreier varieties. One version of the classification theorem states that a locally finite variety $\mathcal{V}$ is a Schreier variety if and only if (i) every finite algebra in $\mathcal{V}$ is a $\langle 0,1\rangle$-minimal algebra and (ii) if $\mathcal{V}$ has a constant $1$-ary term operation, then $\mathcal{V}$ also has a constant $0$-ary term operation.

A Characterization of Local Nilpotence for Derivations of Ore Extensions

Let $\Bbbk$ be an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. A recent theorem of I. Pan characterizes the nonzero locally nilpotent derivations of $\Bbbk[x,y]$ in terms of their isotropy groups: such a derivation is locally nilpotent if and only if its isotropy group contains automorphisms of arbitrarily large degree. We study analogues of this characterization for several noncommutative algebras related to the affine plane. Our main result shows that Pan's characterization extends to the differential Ore extensions $A_h=\Bbbk[x][t;h(x)\partial_x]$, where $h\in\Bbbk[x]\setminus\Bbbk$. For the first Weyl algebra $A_1$, we establish the same equivalence for every nonzero locally finite derivation. For the quantum plane and the first quantum Weyl algebra, known results imply that the corresponding equivalence holds vacuously for nonzero derivations. In contrast, the converse fails for the free associative algebra $\Bbbk\langle x,y\rangle$: we construct a non-locally-nilpotent inner derivation whose isotropy group has unbounded degree. We further analyze this failure through the behavior of automorphisms and derivations under abelianization.
