Nontransitivity of braid group actions on exceptional bases in $K_0(\mathbb{P}^n)$ for $n=4,6$

Let $X=\mathbb{P}^n$, where $p=n+1$ is prime. Consider the orbit of the standard numerical exceptional basis in $K_0(X)$ under mutations, sign changes, and isometries of the Euler form. We construct an invariant of this orbit: for every basis from the orbit, the square of rank of all basic vectors art congruent to $1$ modulo $p$. For $\mathbb{P}^4$ and $\mathbb{P}^6$, we present explicit numerical exceptional bases violating this congruence; hence the action is not transitive. We also establish a stronger obstruction modulo $p^2$ and use Polishchuk's theorem to show that no vector of the constructed bases is the class of an exceptional object. Finally, we prove that for every prime $p$, the category $D^b(\operatorname{Coh}\mathbb{P}^{p-1}_{\mathbb C})$ does not contain a pair of mutually orthogonal exceptional objects.

The Schur multiplier of $\rm{SL}_2$ and Dedekind zeta-functions over $S$-integers

In this paper, we obtain an exact sequence connecting $H_2(\rm{SL}_2(\mathcal{O}_{K,S}), \mathbb{Z})$ to $H_2(\rm{SL}_2(\mathcal{O}_{K,T}), \mathbb{Z})$, where $\mathcal{O}_{K,S}$ is a ring of $S$-integers and $T$ is a set of primes containing $S$. We apply this sequence to establish a relation between $H_2(\rm{SL}_2(\mathcal{O}_{K,S}), \mathbb{Z})$ with the second $K$-group $K_2(\mathcal{O}_{K,S})$, for $S$ large enough. This leads to a description of the rank and size of the torsion of $H_2(\rm{SL}_2(\mathcal{O}_{K,S}), \mathbb{Z})$. As an application, we propose a homological version of the Birch-Tate formula (conjecture) under these assumptions.

Dualisable categories in noncommutative geometry

In this exposition based on a lecture series at the CIMPA School on Operator Algebras and K-theory, 2025, we highlight modern perspectives on noncommutative geometry using dualisable categories. To this end, we show that several categories naturally arising in functional analysis (derived categories of bornological and condensed modules), operator algebras (E-theory) and stable categories (noncommutative motives) are dualisable. This in particular leads to a definition of algebraic K-theory for analytic spaces. Furthermore, the dualisability of E-theory and motives leads us to pursue an analogy between topological and algebraic K-theory, inspired by assembly map (Baum-Connes and Farrell-Jones) conjectures.

Stable Cellularity in Hopfological Algebra

Let $H$ be a nontrivial finite-dimensional nonnegatively graded connected Hopf algebra, with $\ell=\max\{d:H_d\ne0\}$, and let $A\ge0$ be a locally finite $H$-module algebra with finite-dimensional split semisimple, $H$-trivial $A_0$. Under the gap $A_d=0$ for $0<d<\ell$, the shifted standard cells $\{q^{-r}Ae_x:0\le r<\ell\}$ form a simple-minded collection. A socle estimate for positive syzygies proves negative-Hom vanishing, while the gap makes the degree-zero endomorphism algebra semisimple. A bounded $t$-structure on the compact derived category with these cells is constructed, with standard cells as its simple heart objects. It is also shown that every compact object has a finite-cell representative and that compact $K_0$ is free on $[Ae_x]$ over $\mathbb{O}_H=K_0(H\mbox{-}\underline{\mathrm{gmod}})$. The same connected-Hopf hypotheses give a Keller–Nicolás weight structure on the large derived category, without a claim of boundedness or preservation of compact objects. Neither a silting generator nor a bounded weight structure on compacts is forced by the gap. These arguments require neither cocommutativity nor finite representation type of $H$. The $p$-DG case, with $\mathrm{deg}(\partial)=2$ and $\ell=2p-2$, is treated as a specialization. Separately, under the stronger gap condition $A_1=\cdots=A_\ell=0$, literal cellularity of every finitely generated graded-projective hopfological module holds. Explicit $p$-DG higher-cycle retracts and algebra-valued traces show why additional grading hypotheses are needed; in particular, dropping the gap can produce nonzero $p$-torsion in the Grothendieck group of compact derived categories.

Gorenstein cotorsion pairs induced by balanced pairs

Let $(\mathcal{X},\mathcal{Y})$ be an admissible balanced pair in a locally presentable abelian category $\mathcal{A}$, and let $\mathcal{E}$ be its induced exact structure. We study the class $G(\mathcal{X})$ of cycles of two-sided complexes with terms in $\mathcal{X}$ that are both right and left $\mathcal{X}$-acyclic. If $\mathcal{X}$ is closed under direct summands and finite direct sums and is $\kappa$-Kaplansky for every sufficiently large regular cardinal $\kappa$, we prove that $(G(\mathcal{X}),G(\mathcal{X})^{\perp *})$ is a hereditary cotorsion pair relative to $\mathcal E$. For relative purity determined by finitely presented modules, we give two criteria for functorial completeness and show that relative periodic modules generate a functorially complete hereditary cotorsion pair. We also compute the relative Gorenstein objects, their right orthogonal, and explicit approximations for a family of exact structures over Dedekind domains.

p-curvature in non-commutative Hodge theory and the Kontsevich-Soibelman operad

Let $\mathcal{C}$ be a differential $\mathbb{Z}/2$-graded category over $\mathbb{C}$. Its periodic cyclic homology $HH^{per}_*(\mathcal{C})$, when viewed as a vector bundle over the formal punctured disk, is equipped with a canonical connection $\nabla^{\mathcal{C}}_{\partial_t}$ called the Getzler-Gauss-Manin connection in the $t$-direction (or the categorical $t$-connection). Our main result is that when $\mathcal{C}$ is smooth and proper, this connection has a regular singularity at $t=0$ and quasi-unipotent monodromy, affirming a conjecture of Katzarkov-Kontsevich-Pantev \cite{KKP}. Our proof follows a reduction mod $p$ argument using a spreading out technique of Toën \cite{To} and a regularity criterion of Katz \cite{Ka1}. The main novelty is the proof of a multiplicative property of the $p$-curvature of $\nabla^{\mathcal{C}}_{\partial_t}$ through an interpretation in terms of the two-colored Kontsevich-Soibelman operad. We then explore two applications of the main result. First, we give an explicit description (under additional assumptions) of the non-commutative Hodge filtration on the periodic cyclic homology of a smooth proper d$(\mathbb{Z}/2)$g category, following a construction of Shklyarov \cite{Shk}. The second application, which is special to our particular method or proof, is an upper bound on the sizes of Jordan blocks of the monodromy of $\nabla^{\mathcal{C}}_{\partial_t}$, which simultaneously generalizes Scherk's local monodromy theorem for isolated hypersurface singularities \cite{Sche} and (partially) a recent result of Pomerleano-Seidel on the quantum connection of a closed monotone symplectic manifold \cite{PS2}. As a specialization, we show that the sizes of these Jordan blocks are bounded above by the diagonal dimension of $\mathcal{C}$ plus one.

Chromatic Purity of Dualizable Categories

We develop the chromatic theory of dualizable stable categories, with chromatic purity for continuous $K$-theory at its center. We generalize the chromatic purity theorem for algebraic $K$-theory to continuous $K$-theory of dualizable stable categories and reformulate it as the purity of $H$-unital rings. Using categorical completion theory, we construct chromatic fracture squares and obtain a refinement of chromatic purity: for every dualizable stable category $\mathcal{C}$, the $T(n)\oplus T(n-1)$-completion map induces an equivalence $$ K_{T(n)}^{\mathrm{cont}}(\mathcal{C})\xrightarrow{\simeq}K_{T(n)}^{\mathrm{cont}}(\mathrm{Nuc}_{T(n)\oplus T(n-1)}(\mathcal{C})). $$ We also establish chromatic descent for continuous $K$-theory of dualizable homotopy fixed points and prove a categorical nuclear refinement of descent. This framework allows us to lift redshift bounds, Tate vanishing, and blueshift from spectra to dualizable stable categories. We show that the $T(n)$-completion of a rigid symmetric monoidal stable category is equivalent to the dualizable limit of module categories over a tower of type $n$ generalized Moore spectra. As applications, we prove that both nuclear solid and nuclear gaseous module categories satisfy chromatic redshift.

Solvability of isotropic $ \mathrm{K}_1 $-functor over semilocal rings

We show that the $ \mathrm{K}_1 $-functor modeled on simple reductive groups over semilocal rings is solvable if the isotropic rank is at least $ 2 $ and that the Tits index is neither $ {}^{2} \mathsf{E}_{6, 2}^{16'} $ nor $ \mathsf{E}_{8, 2}^{78} $. For these two Tits indices the result is already known, but assuming that the base ring contains a field. Our result implies that the elementary subgroup (or its derived subgroup) is the maximal perfect subgroup of the reductive group.

Transferred $L_\infty$-structures and a classification of binary brackets for finite-dimensional skew-gentle algebras

We construct a transferred $L_\infty$-structure on the shifted Chouhy–Solotar cochain complex of a finite-dimensional skew-gentle algebra and give explicit basis-level formulas for its binary operation $l_2$ in all shifted degrees. We further prove that the Hochschild dg Lie algebra of an $A_n$-type skew-gentle algebra is homotopy abelian, and hence $L_\infty$-formal, and contrast this with Wong's non-formality result for the dual numbers $\mathbb{K}[\theta]/\langle \theta^2 \rangle$, leading to a general formality classification problem.

Gerstenhaber algebra structure on the Hochschild cohomology ring of the Xu–Snashall algebra

Let $A$ be a finite dimensional algebra and let $\rmHH^*(A)$ be its Hochschild cohomology ring, which is a Gerstenhaber algebra. Denote by $\calN$ (resp. $G$, $\calG$) the ideal (resp. weak Gerstenhaber ideal, Gerstenhaber ideal) generated by all homogeneous nilpotent elements. Motivated by their work on support varieties via Hochschild cohomology, Snashall and Solberg conjectured that $\rmHH^*(A)/\calN$ is a finitely generated algebra. Xu constructed a counterexample to the Snashall-Solberg conjecture over a base field of characteristic two, and Snashall generalized this example to arbitrary characteristic. Hermann further asked whether $\rmHH^*(A)/G$ is a finitely generated algebra and suggested considering first the Xu–Snashall algebra. In this paper, we answer this question for the Xu–Snashall algebra. In fact, by explicitly computing the Gerstenhaber algebra structure on the Hochschild cohomology ring, we show that $G=\calN$; hence $\rmHH^*(A)/G=\rmHH^*(A)/\calN$ is not a finitely generated algebra. Furthermore, we show that $\rmHH^*(A)/\calG\cong K$. Therefore, one may ask whether, for a finite dimensional algebra $A$, $\rmHH^*(A)/\calG$ is always a finitely generated algebra. Our main tools are two-sided Anick resolutions and weak self-homotopies.

Parametric decompositions into products of involutions

It is a well-known result of Gustafson, Halmos and Radjavi, dating back to 1976, that any matrix $A$ in $SL_n(\mathbb{C})$ is a product of at most 4 involutions. We consider a natural continuous and holomorphic parameter dependence of this result in the spirit of Vaserstein and Gromov. Our main result shows that null-homotopy characterizes exactly those matrices in the special linear group over rings of continuous or holomorphic functions that are finite products of involutions. We give an upper bound $I(n, d)$, depending only on the size $n$ of the matrices and the dimension $d$ of the parameter space, for the number of involutions needed in the factorization. Our upper bound is not optimal, however we show that for fixed $n$ the optimal upper bound tends to infinity as $d\to \infty$. In some cases we are able to determine the optimal bound.

The Nil K-groups of finite groups

We show that for every finite group $G$ and every integer $n$, the Nil group $\mathrm{NK}_n(\mathbb{Z}[G])$ of the integral group ring of $G$ has finite exponent, and give a bound depending on n and the order $|G|$. This bound is explicit when every prime divisor of $|G|$ is at least $3+n/2$. More generally, our finite exponent result applies to $\mathrm{NK}_n(R[G])$ whenever $R$ is a regular, torsion-free, Noetherian commutative ring such that $R/p$ is regular for every prime $p$ that divides $|G|$. In the Appendix, M. Morrow provides an alternative approach and also shows that the Nil group $\mathrm{NK}_n(X)$ of an excellent Noetherian scheme $X$, with $X[1/p]$ regular, is annihilated by a finite power of $p$, provided $X$ admits a suitable resolution of singularities. By extending his argument to certain noncommutative rings, we also show that, for $R$ as above and $\alpha$ any automorphism of $G$, the Farrell Nil groups $\mathrm{NK}_n(R[G],\alpha)$ have finite exponent. As a consequence, for every virtually cyclic group $\Gamma$, the group $\mathrm{K}_n(\mathbb{Z}[\Gamma])$ is a direct sum of a finitely generated abelian group and an infinite countable direct sum of copies of a finite abelian group.

Relative Global Dimension of Controllable Extensions

We study relative global dimensions of extensions $B \subseteq A$ of Artin algebras over a perfect field. A controllable extension is introduced as one for which the relative global dimension is determined by the ordinary global dimension of the quotient $A/AJ(B)A$. General inequalities and sufficient conditions for controllability are established, including the case in which $J(B)$ is a two-sided ideal of $A$. The interaction between relative global dimensions and relative projective dimensions of the regular bimodule is then studied. The class of homologically controllable extensions is introduced, and it is shown to be closed under tensor products. Consequently, for homologically controllable extensions $B \subseteq A$ and $D \subseteq C$, we obtain \[\operatorname{gldim}(A \otimes C, B \otimes D)=\operatorname{gldim}(A,B) + \operatorname{gldim}(C,D).\] The proof relies on a relative Künneth-type result for tensor products of complexes, which may be of independent interest. Finally, controllable extensions with prescribed relative global dimension are constructed, along with families of non-controllable extensions for which the relative global dimension differs arbitrarily from the global dimension of $A/AJ(B)A$.

Equivariant $K$-theory ring of the affine Grassmannian as deformation to normal cone

We revisit fixed-point localization techniques in equivariant topological $K$-theory, presenting its fibers over varying points of the equivariant base as cohomology of the corresponding fixed-point schemes. We then employ this framework for an effective description of the equivariant $K$-theory ring of the affine Grassmannian $\mathcal{G}r_G$. We do so by a detailed study of the relevant fixed points, extending known results to the action of any $(x, \zeta) \in T \times \mathbb{G}_{m}^{\mathrm{rot}}$. We obtain a description of the complexified topological $K$-theory ring $K^{\mathrm{top}, 0}_{T\times \mathbb{G}_{m}^{\mathrm{rot}}}(\mathcal{G}r_G; \mathbb{C})$ as the ring of functions on a family of affine blowups, extending and proving a conjecture of Roman Bezrukavnikov. While this ring is fairly big, we provide a preferred infinite set of topological generators.

Cusp restrictions and Bunke–Naumann invariants with level structure

Restriction to the full cusp divisor of a modular curve defines a secondary invariant whose rational indeterminacy comes from a single global modular form. For every integral weakly holomorphic level-one modular form $h$ of weight divisible by four, we prove that the imported value $[h/2]$ vanishes at every nontrivial $\Gamma_0(N)$ level. The construction localizes coefficients before completion and rationalizes only after passing to homotopy groups. At odd prime level, we identify the full cusp spectrum as a product of two real Tate factors and construct a single holomorphic weight-two correction. This correction yields an actual integral global homotopy class and a rational global source class satisfying the equality required for joint annihilation. The equality transports to every odd composite level, while even levels follow by inverting two. At level three, the Mahowald–Rezk homotopy calculation leaves only the periodic $\nu$ family in stems $8K+3$. A cusp-residue homomorphism detects its secondary value, which has exact order two throughout the periodic family. As an application, the Bunke–Naumann secondary invariants of products in bidegrees $(8k+1,8k'+2)$ vanish after passage to every nontrivial level.

Representation Varieties of Stacks and Trace Maps

We define a derived stack $\mathscr{Rep}_n(X)$ which generalizes the assignment $A\leadsto \operatorname{Rep}_n(A)$ to an algebra of its derived $GL_n$-representation variety of arXiv:1112.1449 from algebras $A$ to perfect stacks $X$ over characteristic 0 fields. In the case of a quasi-projective classical scheme $X$, we show that $\mathscr{Rep}_n(X)$ admits a subfunctor $\operatorname{Quot}^{n,\text{fr}}_{\mathscr{O}_X^n}(X)\subset \mathscr{Rep}_n(X)$, which is in fact represented by a derived scheme almost of finite type. We further construct a Fourier-Mukai integral transform between the derived categories of quasi-coherent sheaves on $X$ and $\operatorname{Quot}^{n,\text{fr}}_{\mathscr{O}_X^n}(X)$ which induces a trace map at the level of Hochschild homology generalizing the trace morphism constructed in arXiv:1112.1449 (for finitely presented commutative algebras). We show that the subfunctor $\operatorname{Quot}^{n,\text{fr}}_{\mathscr{O}_X^n}(X)$ is a derived enhancement of the framed locus of the Quot scheme of points and that this derived scheme is a $GL_n$-torsor over the stack of coherent length $n$ torsion sheaves. Hence, this stack is an analog of the derived character stack for quasi-projective schemes, and we show that for smooth, Calabi-Yau $X$, it inherits a shifted symplectic structure in the sense of arXiv:1111.3209 from the one constructed in arXiv:1812.11913 on the moduli stack of perfect complexes with proper support. This structure is shown to give a generalization of the classical symplectic structure on character varieties of surfaces of genus 1 constructed by Goldman \cite{gold}.

General linear and Steinberg groups over the Leavitt algebra $L_{\mathbb F_2}(1,2)$

Regular Bundles on Orbifolds: A Short Proof of Presentability

Let $\X$ be a Hausdorff second-countable smooth orbifold without boundary, possibly noncompact and ineffective. Suppose $\dim\X\leq n$ and $|G_x|\leq B$ for integers $n\geq0$ and $B\geq1$, where $G_x$ is the full stabilizer at $x$. We construct a smooth Hermitian bundle of explicit rank $R(n,B)$ whose fibre at $x$ is a positive multiple of $\C[G_x]$. Adams operations cancel the Bott obstructions on the boundary spheres of a locally finite good triangulation, and the connectivity of Stiefel manifolds gives actual bundles representing the resulting virtual classes. Smoothing preserves all stabilizer representations. Unitary frames give $\X\simeq[M/U(R(n,B))]$ for a smooth manifold $M$ with a proper locally free action; $M$ is compact exactly when $|\X|$ is compact. Thus every compact smooth orbifold is presentable.

The K-theory of uniform Roe algebras for coarse structures generated by finite-rank free abelian subgroups

For a uniformly locally finite coarse space $X$, the uniform Roe algebra $C_u^*(X)$ is the operator norm closure of the controlled operators on $\ell^2(X)$. The $K$-theory of uniform Roe algebras is known in asymptotic dimension zero, but it is not fully understood in higher dimensions. We compute $K_0(C_u^*(G,\mathcal E))$ and $K_1(C_u^*(G,\mathcal E))$ for every countable discrete abelian group $G$ and every finite-rank free abelian subgroup $H\leq G$, where $\mathcal E$ is the coarse structure generated by $H$. We use the Proietti–Yamashita spectral sequence to express the $K$-theory in terms of $H_*(H;\ell^\infty(G,\mathbb Z))$, which we then compute.

Coarse moduli of motivic augmentations

A variety $X$ over a suitable base $Z$ gives rise to a highly structured algebra $C^*(X)$ in motives over $Z$. In turn, a $Z$-point gives rise to an augmentation $C^*(X) \to 1$. This assignment $X(Z) \to Aug(C^*(X))$ factors the so-called “unipotent Kummer map” to torsors under the unipotent fundamental group in realizations. In one direction, this suggests the possibility of “performing” Chabauty-Kim theory motivically without waiting for a motivic t-structure. In a different (largely independent) direction, we may hope to extract arithmetic information for use in bounding sets of integral points from the full rational homotopy type going beyond $\pi_1$. In both directions, the coarse space for motivic augmentations $Aug(C^*(X))$ would benefit from a structure of finite type $\mathbb{Q}$-variety, and similarly, the coarse space $Aug(C^*_{F\phi}(X))$ of augmentations in filtered $\phi$ modules would benefit from a structure of finite type $\mathbb{Q}_p$-variety. We establish two criteria for representability, compute these spaces in several examples, and construct a comparison with Selmer varieties. Finally, we demonstrate how these constructions lead to K-theoretic finiteness criteria in an example.

Coleman Isomorphisms in Syntomic Cohomology and $\mathrm{THH}$

This paper proves a generalisation of Coleman's isomorphism (between norm compatible cyclotomic units and a group of invertible power series) to various cohomology theories evaluated on proper regular $p$-adic formal schemes, for future applications to Iwasawa theory. This generalisation is an immediate consequence of a description, as a cyclotomic synthetic spectrum, of the limit over transfer maps as one goes up the cyclotomic tower of motivically filtered $\mathrm{THH}$. This crucially uses a calculation of $\mathrm{THH}(\mathbb{Z}_p[\zeta_{p^n}])$ due to Devalapurkar–Raksit as well as a calculation of the free loop transfer due to Schlichtkrull. Along the way, we construct transfer maps for various cohomology theories along finite locally free regular maps, using some elements of $\mathbb{P}^1$-stable motivic homotopy theory.
