Free Bakry–Émery Calculus

We prove a free probabilistic Bakry–Émery criterion for logarithmic Sobolev inequalities and hypercontractivity. Our approach relies on a noncommutative version of the carré du champ operator and its iteration, which we are able to define in the free probability setting. This allows us to formulate a positive curvature condition, which is shown to be sufficient for logarithmic Sobolev inequalities and hypercontractivity in this setting. In the setting of free Gibbs measures, we also show that this curvature condition can be expressed in terms of the positivity of the Hessian of the associated potential.

On the Dirichlet-to-Neumann conformal invariant of bounded planar domains

Using an analogue of the Mandelstam-Giddings-Wolpert diagrams, we introduce a new canonical representative of the conformal class of a bounded domain of arbitrary connectivity in $\mathbb{C}$ as a flat conical surface with geodesic boundary (a "truncated light-cone diagram", simply LC-diagram in the sequel). The space of diagrams carries natural coordinates. We derive variational formulas for the determinant of the Dirichlet Laplacian on a LC-diagram with respect to these coordinates. Then, passing to the Schottky double of the LC-diagram, making use of the Burghelea-Friedlander-Kappeler formula and the known variational formulas for determinants of Laplacians on the moduli space of holomorphic differentials, we compute the Dirichlet-to-Neumann (DN) conformal invariant $\frac{{\rm det}'\Lambda}{|\Gamma|}$ (here $\Lambda$ is the DN operator on the boundary, $\Gamma$, of a multiply connected domain and $|\Gamma|$ is the length of the boundary). The resulting formula (which uses the periods of the Schottky double of the domain only) provides an elementary counterpart to the formulas of Guillarmou and Guillopé who had expressed the DN invariant through the Ruelle and Selberg zeta-functions. Our formula agrees with the recent result of Wentworth on the asymptotics of the DN invariant as all but one boundary components shrink; we have used this result to fix the undetermined constant of integration in our formula. As a corollary, we derive an explicit formula for the determinant of the Dirichlet Laplacian in a multiply connected domain.

Nonorientable Minimal Surfaces Embedded in the Round $4$-sphere

We show that every closed, nonorientable surface can be minimally embedded in $\mathbb{S}^4$, providing in particular the first known examples of embedded, nonorientable minimal surfaces in $\mathbb{S}^4$ with negative Euler characteristic. All of the surfaces we obtain have area below $8\pi$, which has applications to the existence of nonorientable surfaces minimizing the Willmore functional with prescribed topology in $\mathbb{R}^n$ for $n\geq 4$. Moreover, the number of geometrically distinct embeddings of each nonorientable genus is shown to grow at least exponentially with respect to the genus. Among these surfaces, we identify a distinguished, highly symmetric family which converges in the large-genus limit to a union of four half-spheres, meeting along a great circle, whose poles are vertices of a regular tetrahedron. Rescalings of this family converge to a new singly-periodic nonorientable minimal surface in $\mathbb{R}^4$, which seems to provide the first example of a complete, embedded, nonorientable minimal surface in $\mathbb{R}^4$ without continuous symmetry group. The proofs further develop the equivariant eigenvalue optimization methodology from our earlier work, applied to carefully chosen families of symmetry groups acting on nonorientable surfaces. Interestingly, we also find natural pairs of surfaces and group actions for which there is no metric maximizing the first normalized eigenvalue of the Laplacian.

Parabolic Bogomolov–Gieseker Inequality and Pluriharmonic Metrics on Regular Parabolic Higgs Sheaves over Compact Kähler Manifolds

We prove a parabolic Bogomolov–Gieseker inequality for stable regular parabolic Higgs sheaves on a compact Kähler manifold \((X,\omega)\) equipped with a simple normal crossing divisor \(D\). We also prove that a polystable regular parabolic Higgs sheaf admits a pluriharmonic metric on \(X\setminus D\), provided that each stable summand has parabolic degree zero and vanishing integrated second parabolic Chern character.

A characterization of complex projective space via the Calabi curvature operator

We prove a Tachibana-type result for Kähler-Einstein manifolds isolating complex projective space based on its Calabi curvature operator. The proof uses a new Bochner formula expressing the Lichnerowicz curvature term via the Calabi curvature operator. This resolves one of the problems posed at the AIM workshop "The Bochner Technique” (May 2026).

Liouville theorems and Evans-Krylov estimates

A classical idea in analysis going back at least to work of Simon (1997) is that Liouville theorems for solutions to elliptic or parabolic PDEs are equivalent to Schauder type regularity estimates. The goal of this course is to describe some recent developments of this idea concerning the regularity of the complex Monge-Ampère equation with respect to singular reference metrics. We will start with a quick look at the classical $C^2$ and $C^3$ estimates of Calabi-Aubin-Yau and then present a new proof of the Evans-Krylov $C^{2,\alpha}$ estimate on a Euclidean ball. Based on this we will consider the case of singular backgrounds such as cylinders and cones, discussing some recent work by Hein, Tosatti, Lee and Klemmensen. Our discussion is far from complete and knowledge of Kähler geometry including the Aubin-Yau theorems is assumed. The course includes five exercises with solutions and a problem list.

The $J$-equation on Kähler manifolds under a smooth boundary cone condition

For a $n$-dimensional compact Kähler manifold $X$ with a pair of Kähler classes $(\alpha,\beta)$, we show that the algebraically defined $J$-null locus is equal to the analytically defined $J$-non-ample locus under the assumption of $J$-bigness(which is automatic for semistable pair up to dimension $3$ \cite{3d}), and boundary cone condition $c_{\alpha,\beta}\omega^{n-1}-(n-1)\omega^{n-2}\wedge\chi\geq 0$ for some Kähler form $\omega\in \alpha,\chi\in \beta$. The key tool is the generalized Khovanskii-Teissier inequality associated to $J$ equation formulated by Collins \cite{CT21} and its extension to singular Kähler space.

Demailly-Kollár continuity on klt pairs, and applications to alpha and delta invariants

We establish a Demailly-Kollár type continuity theorem for plurisubharmonic functions with respect to adapted measures on normal complex analytic klt pairs. As applications, we prove the equality of the analytic and divisorial versions of the alpha and delta invariants on compact normal Kähler klt pairs, thereby completing a program initiated by the second author. We further show that the two local alpha invariants introduced by Guedj and Trusiani for an isolated log terminal singularity coincide and that their common value is the $n$th root of Li's normalized volume. These identities have geometric consequences. The equality for the delta invariant yields a Yau-Tian-Donaldson type divisorial criterion for the solvability of twisted Kähler-Einstein equations in big cohomology classes, without a semipositivity assumption on the twist. The local alpha identity determines algebraically the critical exponent governing the existence of positively curved KE metrics near an isolated log terminal singularity, thus confirming a prediction of Guedj and Trusiani.

Limits of quantization from mixed to real polarizations on toric varieties

Let $(M, \omega, J)$ be a $2n$-dimensional toric variety determined by a Delzant polytope $P$, whose $T^{n}$-symmetry determines a real polarization $\mathcal{P}_{\mathbb{R}}$. Let $K \subset T^{n}$ be a subtorus. By a construction due to Leung and the first author, the $K$-action induces a mixed polarization $\mathcal{P}_{K}$. This paper investigates the relationship between the quantum Hilbert spaces $\mathcal{H}_{K}$ and $\mathcal{H}_{\mathbb{R}}$ associated with the polarizations $\mathcal{P}_{K}$ and $\mathcal{P}_{\mathbb{R}}$. Starting from $\mathcal{P}_{K}$, we use an imaginary-time flow to construct a one-parameter family of mixed polarizations $\mathcal{P}_{K,t}$ on $M$ interpolating between $\mathcal{P}_{K}$ and $\mathcal{P}_{\mathbb{R}}$, with $\mathcal{P}_{K,0}=\mathcal{P}_{K}$ and $\lim_{t\to\infty}\mathcal{P}_{K,t}=\mathcal{P}_{\mathbb{R}}$. For the corresponding quantum Hilbert spaces $\mathcal{H}_{K,t}$, we lift the imaginary-time flow to the prequantum line bundle to obtain a $T^{n}$-equivariant isomorphism $\mathcal{H}_{K}\cong\mathcal{H}_{K,t}$. We finally show that $\mathcal{H}_{K,t}$ converges to $\mathcal{H}_{\mathbb{R}}$ as $t\to\infty$.

Kerr Black Hole Uniqueness

We prove the black hole uniqueness conjecture in the axially symmetric, stationary vacuum setting: there is no regular, asymptotically flat equilibrium configuration with more than one horizon component. More precisely, we establish that in every such multi-horizon configuration, the logarithmic angle defect along every bounded axis rod is negative, which implies that the net interaction force across each such segment is attractive. The proof is based on a refined asymptotic analysis of the associated singular harmonic maps, partially drawn from the companion work [16], together with a global maximum principle bound for the Weyl conformal factor arising from a novel scalar curvature related differential inequality.

Convex functions with symplectic Hessian

We prove a third-order derivative estimate for convex solutions to the real Monge-Ampère equation ${\rm det}\,{\rm Hess}(u) = 1$ on an open set in $\mathbb{R}^{2m}$ under the additional assumption that ${\rm Hess}(u)$ lies in ${\rm Sp}(2m,\mathbb{R})$ at every point. Our method is a geometric interpretation and extension to higher dimensions of Nitsche's classical proof of the Bernstein theorem for the real Monge-Ampère equation on $\mathbb{R}^2$. For $m = 1$ we also improve Nitsche's constant as well as some estimates due to Calabi, and we construct examples of solutions with interesting geometric behavior.

Dynamic Inversion: An Incrementally Evolving Methodology for Flight Control Design

Nonlinear Dynamic Inversion (NDI) has become a standard methodology in flight control law design. It offers an intuitive approach to decouple commanded variable responses, handle system nonlinearities, and adapt to operating conditions. NDI also comes with a well-structured architecture that reduces design effort by addressing various functional aspects in separate components, and that allows straightforward integration of extended capabilities, such as envelope protection, control saturation handling, and compensating for faults or damage. A development that has resulted in considerable renewed attention is the use of (angular) acceleration sensors to partially replace inverse model equations. Known as incremental NDI, or INDI, this development offers reduced sensitivity to modeling errors and lower control law complexity. Incremental NDI, however, lacks useful design degrees of freedom in the previously present inverse model equations and underlying feedback signal synthesis, and comes with pitfalls in design aspects like control allocation, disturbance rejection, and inter-disciplinary couplings. This has given rise to recently developed hybrid and mathematically restructured approaches. The aim of this article is to give an up-to-date, structured overview of the various evolved forms of NDI from conceptual, historical, architectural, and mathematical perspectives. It hereby intends to provide useful considerations for future flight control law developments by reviewing its various forms and potentials from methodological, design, and application points of view.

Semilinear overdetermined problems, a divergence formula, and geometric inequalities

Considering an $n$-dimensional compact Riemannian manifold with a boundary that satisfies a Serrin-type problem, we prove sharp upper and lower bounds for the area of such a boundary. Then, we present the main result of this paper: a divergence formula for a special vector field on a given Riemannian manifold. This divergence formula is closely related to sub-static manifolds and related metrics, e.g., $V$-static, static, and electrostatic manifolds. We show Minkowski-type inequalities for $V$-sub-static manifolds under different Neumann boundary conditions. Moreover, we prove an area-charge inequality for compact (and noncompact) electrostatic manifolds. The main application of the divergence formula presented in this work generalizes the classical result of Boucher–Gibbons–Horowitz: we prove that an asymptotically hyperbolic space of a static spacetime satisfying the null convergence condition must be the hyperbolic space.

Counterexamples to Escobar's conjecture

Escobar (J Funct Anal 165(1):101-116, 1999) conjectured that for every $n\ge 3$, an $n$-dimensional compact Riemannian manifold with nonnegative Ricci curvature and all boundary principal curvatures bounded below by $\kappa>0$ must satisfy $\sigma_1\geq \kappa$. We disprove this conjecture for every $n\geq 3$ by constructing conformal deformations of the Euclidean unit ball. We first establish a perturbative criterion, then construct explicit polynomial conformal factors satisfying this criterion. For every sufficiently small $t>0$, the resulting metrics $g_t=e^{2t\Phi}g_{\mathbb{R}^n}$ have positive Ricci curvature, every boundary principal curvature is strictly larger than $1$, and $\sigma_1(\mathbb{B}^n,g_t)<1$. The proof requires several computations, some of which were carried out in Mathematica. The Mathematica code is attached to this submission.

Hopf type theorem for surfaces of constant weighted mean curvature in Riemannian manifolds

We consider compact immersed surfaces of genus zero in a three-dimensional smooth metric measure space \((M^3,g,e^{-f}\mathrm{d}V_{g})\). We introduce a new weighted mean curvature and prove that any such surface whose weighted mean curvature is constant must be totally umbilical, provided that a condition relating the Ricci curvature of $M$ and the weight function $f$ is satisfied. We also give an application of this result to the uniqueness of the dual Christoffel-Minkowski problem.

Positive Mass Theorem with Arbitrary Ends and Noncompact Boundary

We prove a positive mass theorem for complete Riemannian manifolds with noncompact boundary, a distinguished asymptotically flat half-space end, and finitely many additional complete ends with no prescribed asymptotics. If $3\leq n\leq7$, $R_g\geq0$, and $H_{\partial M}\geq0$, then $ \mathfrak m(M,g,\mathcal E)\geq0$. Moreover, equality holds if and only if $(M,g)$ is isometric to the Euclidean half-space. The proof combines a density deformation near the distinguished end with doubling across the noncompact boundary, local smoothing, and a conformal correction. We also obtain the sharp Riemannian Penrose inequality when a compact outermost minimal hypersurface separates $\mathcal E$ from all the remaining ends; equality holds precisely when the exterior region is a Schwarzschild half-space exterior.

Bounded Harmonic Functions on Products with a Parabolic Factor

We prove that if $M$ is a connected complete parabolic Riemannian manifold and $N$ is a connected complete stochastically complete Riemannian manifold, then every bounded harmonic function on $M\times N$ is independent of the $M$-variable. Equivalently, pullback by the second projection induces an isometric isomorphism from the space of bounded harmonic functions on $N$ onto that on $M\times N$. In particular, the product of two parabolic manifolds has the bounded Liouville property, thereby answering Problem~16 of Grigor'yan's survey in the affirmative. The key analytic input is a total-variation memory-loss property of the heat kernel on a parabolic manifold. We establish this property by showing that the time-one heat kernel defines an aperiodic Harris recurrent transition kernel and then applying the row-merging theorem of Jamison and Orey.

Transforms of holomorphic maps from flag manifolds into Grassmannians

Building on the generalized do Carmo-Wallach theory, we construct a functorial framework for holomorphic maps from flag manifolds into Grassmannians and quadrics. Through the direct image sheaf and its inverse, we construct Penrose-type transforms that allow both the domain and target to vary. These transforms provide functors between categories of full holomorphic maps satisfying the gauge condition for semi-positive homogeneous bundles. Within this framework, Einstein-Hermitian holomorphic maps form a natural subcategory, stable under all transforms, and the minimality of L^2-norm of the mean curvature operator is preserved. For Grassmannian targets, the moduli of Einstein-Hermitian maps from a flag manifold are identified with r-tuples of non- positive integers modulo symmetry, where r is the rank of the group of holomorphic isometries. For quadric targets, we obtain a complete geometric description of the moduli space. The center of this moduli space corresponds to the Einstein-Hermitian map into the projective space, and the tower of transforms identifies all intermediate moduli spaces with the moduli of holomorphic isometric embeddings at the bottom level. The results yield a unified categorical and geometric description of holomorphic isometric embeddings of flag manifolds.

Interior estimates and regularity for the scalar curvature equation in dimension 4

We establish a priori interior curvature estimates for the scalar curvature equation in dimension 4. Our approach relies on the doubling method introduced by Shankar and Yuan [SY25]. Key to the proof are an a priori doubling inequality under a small gradient assumption and the Alexandrov regularity for viscosity solutions; the latter is obtained via a new iterative rotation argument. Furthermore, we establish interior regularity for $C^1$ viscosity solutions.

Semistable $J$-equation on Kähler threefold

For a $3$-dimensional compact Kähler manifold $X$ with a pair of Kähler class $(\alpha,\beta)$ which is $J$-semistable, we show that the $J$-null locus of $(\alpha,\beta)$ forms a subvariety of $X$. We also give an analyic characterization of the $J$-null locus using Kähler currents with analytic singularities analogous to the theorem of Collins-Tosatti \cite{CT15}. As an application, we show the smooth convergence of the $J$-flow off the $J$-null locus. It gives higer order partial regularity for weak solutions of semistable $J$-equations obtained in \cite{M26b}.

Heat Geometry from a Universal Scalar Process

We prove that the law of one smooth scalar process in a finite Wiener chaos completely determines finite families of symmetric tensors on arbitrary real separable Hilbert spaces, up to simultaneous orthogonal equivalence. Gaussian graph characters recover all contractions, while an intrinsic trace class Gram operator reduces the problem to finite dimensional invariant theory. Applied at a single fixed positive time to the canonical quadratic and quartic heat packet, this principle reconstructs the heat generator and forces every reconstructed unitary to be spatial. Consequently, one universal scalar process determines closed Riemannian manifolds, compact $\operatorname{RCD}$ spaces of finite dimension, and Euclidean bundles with metric connection and self adjoint potential. The heat packet functor is fully faithful, and its tensor automorphisms are precisely the geometric ones.

Wishart Matrices and Quantum Geometry: Foundations and Applications in Quantum Information

We present a unified framework for the study of Wishart matrices (W_p(n,\Sigma)), which generalize the chi-squared distribution to matrix-variate settings and model the covariance structure of multivariate Gaussian data. After recalling their defining properties - additivity under independent summation (W_1 + W_2 \sim W_p(n_1+n_2,\Sigma)), equivariance under linear maps (A W A^T \sim W_q(n,A\Sigma A^T)), and their role as sample covariance matrices - we embed the positive-definite cone (S_p^+) within Monge-Ampere geometry. Here (S_p^+) acquires a Hessian manifold structure with affine-invariant metric and volume form (\omega = \det(\Sigma)^{-(p+1)/2},d\Sigma), under which the Wishart density acts as a soliton of natural geometric flows. We then show that the collection of Wishart distributions forms a symmetric monoidal category (\mathcal{W}), whose objects are (W_p(n,\Sigma)) and whose morphisms are linear maps (A:\mathbb{R}^p\to\mathbb{R}^q). The tensor product encodes block-diagonal coupling, with braiding given by block permutation, and the axioms enforce Monge-Ampere functoriality, additivity, and convex duality via the Legendre transform. Applications to quantum error correction are discussed: Wishart laws model correlated noise, Wasserstein geodesics optimize error-mitigation cost, tensor structure captures independent error channels, and Legendre duality underpins entropy-driven decoding.

Uniqueness of capillary Gauss solitons

We prove the rigidity conjecture of [16, Conjecture 1.2] for smooth strictly convex capillary Gauss solitons in a Euclidean half-space with an acute contact angle: every such soliton is a spherical cap. Combined with our previous convergence result for the capillary Gauss curvature flow [16, Theorem 1.1], it follows that the flow starting from a strictly convex capillary hypersurface with an acute contact angle converges to a capillary spherical cap, after a suitable rescaling.

Ricci-flat string algebroids

We investigate geometric structures defined by 4-forms, encompassing important classes of geometric structures with torsion including almost Hermitian, $\mathrm{G}_2$, $\mathrm{Spin}(7)$, and almost quaternion/hyper Hermitian. Within this unified framework, the underlying 4-form naturally determines geometric data that define a string algebroid over the manifold. In particular, it gives rise to a canonical notion of instanton, thereby linking these geometries to gauge-theoretic structures in generalized geometry and heterotic string theory. We further prove that these data induce generalized Ricci-flat metrics. Finally, we examine the main examples in the literature and construct several explicit ones.

Geometric Structures on Graphs: a Holonomy-Based Discretization of Curvature

We propose a holonomy-based framework for discretizing curvature on graphs equipped with local symmetric positive-definite metrics. Each vertex carries a fibre metric \(g_i\), and each directed edge carries a reversible metric-compatible transport \(F_{ij}\). The ordered product around an oriented triangular loop \(\mathcal C\) gives a holonomy \(H_{\mathcal C}\), whose normalized logarithm \(\Omega_{\mathcal C}=-s_{\mathcal C}^{-1}\operatorname{Log}(H_{\mathcal C})\) is used as a finite-loop curvature observation. Thus the construction discretizes the geometric principle that infinitesimal holonomy is controlled by curvature, rather than treating holonomy as a heuristic feature. Since \(\Omega_{\mathcal C}\) lies in the \(g_i\)-orthogonal Lie algebra, it is not itself a velocity of an SPD metric. We therefore introduce two aggregation mechanisms: a commutator with a symmetric response matrix, producing symmetric Ricci-type metric responses, and an incidence-aware covariant divergence of curvature-induced edge fluxes, reflecting the relation between trace and covariant divergence. The resulting responses are locally orthogonal-gauge equivariant and can drive exponential updates that preserve positive definiteness. We also give a reversible metric-compatible parametrization of edge transports, allowing orthogonal edge factors, loop scales, weights, and response matrices to be learned while respecting the graph geometry. Known-geometry calibrations on the unit sphere test the holonomy–curvature relation, curvature preservation under nontrivial local metric representations, and the empirical recovery of edge transports from local observations.

Scalar curvature of blow-ups of compact Kähler manifolds along complex submanifolds

Let $(M,\omega)$ be a compact Kähler manifold with its scalar curvature $S(\omega)$, Assume that $M$ has complex dimension at least $3$ and contains a complex submanifold $X$ of complex codimension at least $2$. Let $\sigma: Bl_{X} M \rightarrow M$ denote the blow-up of $M$ along $X$. We show that $Bl_{X} M$ admits a sequence of Kähler metrics $\{\widetilde{\omega}_{i}\}_{i \geq 1}$ whose scalar curvatures $S(\widetilde{\omega}_i)$ converge to $\sigma^{\ast} (S(\omega))$ in the $C^0(Bl_{X} M)$ norm. Our work is motivated by a recent result of Brown, who established the corresponding result for blow-ups at a point. The proof is based on the gluing method for constructing extremal Kähler metrics on blow-ups, together with new analytic tools and several modifications needed in our setting.

Relative multisections of higher-dimensional manifolds with boundary

A multisection (as defined by Ben Aribi, Courte, Golla and Moussard) is a decomposition of a closed orientable manifold into model pieces. These model pieces are top-dimensional 1-handlebodies, whose subcollections intersect along 1-handlebodies of lower dimensions, and whose global intersection is a closed surface. This concept extends the notions of Heegaard splittings and trisections to higher dimensions. In this article, we adapt multisections to compact manifolds with boundary, generalizing sutured Heegaard splittings and relative trisections to every dimension. We define the associated diagrams, which encompass sutured Heegaard diagrams and relative trisection diagrams. A relative multisection induces a particular decomposition of the boundary of the manifold, which we call a relative fibration. We show that, in dimension n greater than 3, a connected manifold which relatively fibers is necessarily either a sphere, or a connected sum of copies of the product of the circle with the sphere of dimension n-1. We prove that a compact 5-manifold whose boundary relatively fibers admits a relative multisection. We also state a gluing theorem that allows to combine suitable relatively multisected manifolds with boundary into multisected closed manifolds.
