A ridgeline correspondence criterion: the number of modes of a Gaussian mixture is finite
Carlos Améndola and Jose Israel Rodriguez
We prove that every finite multivariate Gaussian mixture density has only finitely many modes. Our approach combines an algebraic formulation of the ridgeline theory of Ray and Lindsay (2005) with a transcendence-degree argument based on Ax's functional-transcendence
theorem to bound the cardinality of the set of critical points. Our techniques extend recent work by Wang (2026), who used Ax's
theorem together with real-analytic curve selection to prove finiteness of the critical set of homoscedastic Gaussian mixtures. We introduce the ridgeline correspondence and use it to obtain a finiteness result that applies to arbitrary heteroscedastic Gaussian mixtures. Our framework also establishes finiteness of the number of modes for additional classes of
polynomial-exponential mixtures and generalized Gaussian mixtures.

Rational torsion on simple genus two Jacobians
Jennifer S. Balakrishnan, Filip Najman, Ari Shnidman et al. (+1 more)
We exhibit new subgroups of rational torsion points in geometrically simple Jacobians of genus-two curves over $\mathbb Q$. The largest group, which has order 96 and invariants [2,2,2,12], is realized by curves of the form $y^2 = x(x-a^2)(x-b^2)(x-c^2)(x-u^2)(x-v^2)$ where $a,b,c,u,v$ are positive integers that satisfy $a^2 + b^2 + c^2 = u^2 + v^2$ and $a^4 + b^4 + c^4 = u^4 + v^4$. We also find realizations of the groups [2,2,20], [2,2,4,4], [2,2,2,8], [2,4,8], and [6,6]. Finally, we record, to the best of our knowledge, all known subgroups that arise in genus-two Jacobians over $\mathbb Q$, in the geometrically simple case and in general.

On Manin's conjecture for quartic del Pezzo fibrations
Sho Tanimoto
We generalize the homological sieve method, developed by Das, Lehmann, Tosteson, and the author, to study certain quartic del Pezzo fibrations, and we prove a version of Manin's
conjecture over global function fields in these cases. Our proofs combine the $3$-dimensional positive-characteristic minimal model program, the geometry of the space of sections and the Abel–Jacobi mapping, and the homological sieve method. Our quartic del Pezzo surfaces have Picard rank $2$, and admit two birational morphisms to non-split quadric surfaces. In particular, they do not possess any conic fibrations.

Betti bounds for spaces of curves on varieties and Manin's conjecture for quartic del Pezzo surfaces
Enhao Feng and Matthew Hase-Liu
We prove uniform exponential bounds for the compactly supported Betti numbers of spaces of morphisms from curves of fixed genus to projective varieties. For targets in a fixed projective space cut out by a prescribed number of equations of fixed degrees, the bound is exponential in the degree of the morphism and is independent of the ground field, the source curve, and the target. The proof constructs bounded-degree affine presentations involving only linearly many variables and equations, and then applies Katz's estimate. As an application, we establish a higher genus function field version of Manin's
conjecture for split quartic del Pezzo surfaces, generalizing a recent
theorem of Das–Lehmann–Tanimoto–Tosteson. The passage from $\mathbb{P}^1$ to arbitrary source curves requires uniform bounds for compactly supported Betti numbers over all curves of fixed genus, together with new
geometric results on higher genus morphism spaces, including irreducibility and dimension estimates for the relevant incidence strata. These results, combined with the necessary control of the configuration space contributions, allow the homological sieve and virtual height zeta function argument to yield, over sufficiently large finite fields and within a slightly shrunken nef cone, the predicted asymptotic with the expected leading constant.

Fujita freeness for projectivized toric vector bundles
Antonio Laface
Let $X$ be a smooth projective toric variety of dimension $n\geq1$ over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, let $\mathcal E$ be a toric vector bundle of rank $r\geq2$, and let $\pi\colon Y=\mathbb P_X(\mathcal E)\to X$ be the projective bundle of one-dimensional quotients. Write an ample line bundle on $Y$ as $A=\mathcal O_Y(a)\otimes\pi^*L$, with $a\geq1$. We record a blow-up argument proving that $K_Y+mA$ is globally generated whenever an integer $m$ satisfies $ma\geq r$ and $m\delta(A)>n$, where $\delta(A)$ is a positive integer obtained from the degrees of $A$ on the invariant quotient sections over the
torus-invariant curves of $X$. In particular, $K_Y+mA$ is globally generated for $m\geq n+1$ and $ma\geq r$. Consequently every projectivized toric vector bundle satisfies Fujita's freeness
conjecture. The uniform bound is sharp. We also formulate the result as a global-generation
theorem for adjoint symmetric powers of $\mathcal E$ and explain its relation with the Seshadri-constant results of Hering–Mustaţă–Payne and Fulger–Murayama. ChatGPT (OpenAI) was used to assist with mathematical discussion,

Local inequalities for $cD$ and $cE$ singularities
Chi-Kang Chang, Jheng-Jie Chen and Takuzo Okada
We obtain inequalities for isolated $cD_n, cE_6, cE_7$ and $cE_8$ singularities, analogues of the $4\mu^2/(n+1)$-inequality for isolated $cA_n$ singularity in \cite{KOP}. These inequalities are sharp. This enables us to prove the birational rigidity of certain families of Fano $3$-fold weighted hypersurfaces, which contain only terminal quotient singularities and one $cD_n$ singularity.

The Algebraicity Problem for Hard-Core Entropy Constants on the Discrete Hypertori
Yotam Svoray
We use tools and techniques from $p$-adic analysis and algebraic number theory to study the algebraicity of the hard square
entropy constant and its high dimensional analogues. Specifically, we study arithmetic properties of $a_d(n)$, the number of independent sets in the $d$-dimensional discrete
torus, and the associated
entropy constants $\kappa_d=\lim_{n\to\infty}a_d(n)^{1/n^d}$. It is not known whether $\kappa_d$ is algebraic or transcendental for $d>1$. Using the fact that the sequence $a_d(p^k)$ converges $p$-adically for every
prime $p$ and other arithmetic facts, we present a collection of criteria for the algebraicity of $\kappa_d$ and bound the number of possible values of
prime powers $p^k$ for which $a_d(p^k)=\kappa_d^{p^{kd}}$.

Simplicial arrangements in real projective three-space revisited
Marek Janasz and Piotr Pokora
In this paper we study irreducible simplicial arrangements of projective planes in $\mathbb{P}^{3}(\mathbb{R})$ from combinatorial and projective geometry viewpoints. We first formulate a simpliciality criterion in terms of incidences between rank-two and rank-three flats, together with equivalent formulations using face numbers, reduced restrictions, and characteristic
polynomials. We also relate the classical planar restriction data of Grünbaum-Shephard to Ziegler multirestrictions. Our principal result concerns the rank-four special-vertex property: among the irreducible crystallographic Coxeter arrangements of rank four, the arrangements of types $A_4$ and $B_4$ admit a special vertex, whereas those of types $D_4$ and $F_4$ do not. A simplicial deletion chain inside $B_4$ supplies further irreducible examples with a special vertex. Finally, we compare rank-flat, Purdy-type, and Grünbaum-Shephard defects for these arrangements.

The Global Dimension Function on Stability Manifolds
Dongjian Wu and Nantao Zhang
In this paper, we study the reachability and boundary behavior of the global dimension function on Bridgeland stability
manifolds. For a smooth projective variety $X$ of dimension $n$, we prove that the infimum of the global dimension function is $n$. This value is attained when $-K_X$ is ample, is taken by every stability condition when $K_X\in\mathrm{Pic}^0(X)$, and is not attained when $K_X$ is big and nef. We also extend these reachability results to pre-stability conditions. In addition, we construct compactifications of reduced stability spaces of smooth projective curves to which the global dimension function extends continuously. Finally, we discuss algebraic models of the reachability problem, including finite-dimensional
algebras and semiorthogonal decompositions.

Syzygies of Polarized Abelian Surfaces: A Reider-Type Criterion
Chunyi Li, Lei Song and Xiao Wang
Let $(X,L)$ be a polarized complex abelian surface with $L^2=2d$. We establish a Reider-type criterion for Property $N_p$. If $d\geq7$, then $L$ satisfies Property $N_0$ if and only if there is no elliptic curve $E\subseteq X$ with $L\cdot E\leq2$, with one explicitly described exception. If $p\geq1$ and $d\geq(p+2)^2+1$, then $L$ satisfies Property $N_p$ if and only if there is no elliptic curve $E\subseteq X$ with $L\cdot E\leq p+2$. The numerical bounds on $d$ are optimal for $p=0,1$. These results improve upon earlier work of Küronya–Lozovanu, Ito, and Rojas. We also construct a polarized abelian surface whose basepoint-freeness threshold is irrational.

Degree of irrationality of properly elliptic surfaces
Yongnam Lee and De-Qi Zhang
In this paper, we study the degree of irrationality of properly elliptic surfaces with a section. We prove $\min\{\chi(\mathcal O_S),\,2\operatorname{gon}(C)\} \leq \operatorname{irr}(S) \leq 2\operatorname{gon}(C)$. The lower bound is obtained from the canonical bundle formula and the Cayley–Bacharach property. We show that this bound is sharp. We also study the behavior of the degree of irrationality in moduli. A very general properly elliptic surface with a section over a curve of genus at least two has degree of irrationality at least four, whereas special families with $\chi(\mathcal O_S)=1$ or $2$ have degree two. Finally, we investigate properly elliptic surfaces with $\chi(\mathcal O_S)=0$, proving a generic lower bound of four and showing that $\operatorname{irr}(C\times E)=4$ for every hyperelliptic curve $C$ of genus at least two and every elliptic curve $E$. Our paper also includes special properly elliptic surfaces without a section. For Dolgachev surfaces, we exclude degree two for a very general member and construct special examples of degrees two and three.

On cluster deep loci in double Bruhat cells
Hanwen Quan
We study deep loci for the reduced-word Berenstein-Fomin-Zelevinsky cluster atlas on type-A double Bruhat
cells. As defined in CGSS24, for a seed collection on a cluster variety X, the deep locus is the complement of the union of all corresponding cluster
tori. We focus on double Bruhat
cells G(u,v) for G = SL(n). Our main results are several
theorems describing the structure of these deep loci, including their interaction with the Poisson structure, the relationships between the deep loci of different
cells, and a tracking formula that allows us to compute the reduced-word deep locus of a
cell from a lower-dimensional one. The paper also includes explicit low-rank calculations for double Bruhat
cells in SL(3) and Borel double Bruhat
cells in SL(4). Finally, we discuss the relationship between these results and some general properties of deep loci.

On Frobenius rigidity for motivic cohomology
Thomas H. Geisser
We study how motivic and étale motivic cohomology of a smooth and proper variety changes under extensions of algebraically closed base fields $k$. With finite coefficients, motivic cohomology is independent of $k$, and étale motivic cohomology is independent of $k$ away from the characteristic, but depends on $k$ at the characteristic. We then consider the fiber of $F-1$ for $F$ the Frobenius, on motivic cohomology and étale motivic cohomology for varieties defined over finite fields. We show that this fiber is independent of $k$ with finite coefficients. In addition, we give some results and examples with integral coefficients.

Algebraic Geometry
José Edson Sampaio
In 2009, Peterzil and Starchenko proved the following beautiful generalization of Chow's
theorem: An entire complex analytic set $X\subset \mathbb{C}^n$ that is definable in an o-minimal structure on $\mathbb{R}$ must be an algebraic set. This result is known nowadays as the o-minimal Chow
theorem. In this article, we present some
geometric and metric versions of Chow's
theorem that generalize the o-minimal Chow's
theorem. For instance, we prove that if $X\subset \mathbb{C}^n$ is a pure $d$-dimensional entire complex analytic set, then the following statements are equivalent: (1) $X$ is a complex algebraic set; (2) $\mathcal{H}^{2d+1}(C(X,\infty))=0$, where $\mathcal{H}^{k}(A)$ denotes the $k$-dimensional Hausdorff measure of $A$, and $C(X,\infty)$ denotes the tangent cone at infinity of $X$; (3) $\mathcal{H}^{2d+2}(C_{\mathbb{C}}(X,\infty))=0$, where $C_{\mathbb{C}}(X,\infty)$ denotes the complex tangent cone at infinity of $X$; (4) $\mathcal{H}^{2d}(Z(X,\infty))=0$, where for $A\subset \mathbb{C}^k$, $Z(A,\infty)=\{[v]\in \mathbb{C}P^{k-1};v\in C_{\mathbb{C}}(A,\infty)\}$; (5) For any $k\in\{d+1,...,n\}$ and for any projection $\pi\colon \mathbb{C}^{n}\to \mathbb{C}^{k}$ such that $\pi^{-1}(0)\cap C_{\mathbb{C}}(X,\infty)=\{0\}$ and $Y=\pi(X)$, $\mathcal{H}^{2d}(Z(Y,\infty))<\mathcal{H}^{2d}(\mathbb{C}P^{d})$.
