Radioactive Surges 200% Without Leaving the Lab

Radioactive turned up in 15 papers against a usual five, while Plasma Physics kept the week busy regardless.

Mentions of "radioactive" are up 200%: 15 papers carried the word this week, against a usual five.

"Cold Hypersonic Gas Jets for Precision Laser Spectroscopy of Radioactive Molecules" (physics.atom-ph) keeps the word earthbound, chasing precision rather than peril.

"A Unified Model for Radioactive Signatures and Source Identifiability in Neutron Star Mergers" (astro-ph.HE) sends it rather further afield.

None of this needed Plasma Physics (physics.plasm-ph) to help, though the field kept at it anyway: 48 papers against a usual 29, up 64%, having already topped the lead slot on 31 October.

No ticker yet, so the word's sudden popularity pays nobody a dividend.

BREAKOUT

Click Count Climbs to 27, Up 163%

The cursor's favourite action keeps turning up across recommendation systems, interface tests and advertising alike.

Mentions of "click" are up 163%: 27 papers used the word this week, against a usual ten.

"After One-Click Video: The Inflow of Service-Type Content, the Failure of the Recommendation Pool Mechanism, and the BoLe System" (cs.IR) catches the scroll mid-swipe.

"Right Click, Wrong Box: Grading GUI Grounding by What a Click Does" (cs.CV) asks what a click actually achieves, which is more than most interfaces manage.

"Truthful by Omission: Click Thinning for LLM-Native Advertising" (cs.GT) promises honesty, within limits.

Still no ticker, so the word's many appearances pay no dividend yet.

UNBROKEN STREAK

Plasma Physics Keeps Climbing After Its Turn at the Top

physics.plasm-ph is up 64% since leading the lead slot on 31 October, with three more fields running hot alongside it.

Plasma Physics (physics.plasm-ph) brought in 48 papers this week, up 64% on its usual 29, having already led the lead slot on 31 October and showing no sign of calming down.

Mathematical Physics (math-ph), which had its own turn atop the page on 28 October, keeps apace: 68 papers against a usual 49, up 39%.

Software Engineering (cs.SE), a headliner on 29 October, is still running warm: 157 papers against a usual 119, up 32%.

Information Retrieval (cs.IR) joins in without ever having led: 85 papers against a usual 66, up 29%, apparently deciding an encore wasn't only for fields that had already had one.

THE TURF · $AXN

Axion Clears the Final Fence, Ricci Trails the Field

A good day for anything that glows faintly, a poor one for anything curved.

Down the home straight it's Axion ($AXN) making all the running, up 7.6%, with Antenna ($ANTN) chasing hard at 5.7% and Lepton ($LEPTN) staying on for a place at 1.8%.

At the tail of the field, Ricci ($RICCI) fades out the back door, down 9.0%, with Hyperbolic ($HYPB) never quite finding its stride either, off 1.2%, and Dust ($DUST) just failing to hold position, down 0.7%.

Agent ($AGNT) needs no result to justify its place on the card: 268 hits in titles and abstracts on the day, the busiest runner on the track once more.

FUND DESK · $HYPB

Citation Cartel Capital Sells Hyperbolic, Then Elliptic for Good Measure

A crowded exit for two words that used to curve in very different directions.

Citation Cartel Capital sold 4,761.38 credits of $HYPB (hyperbolic), the day's largest single move.

"The room sold first; we're merely minding the exit," said a fund spokesperson who insists this is strategy, not panic.

Co-Author Network sold 4,754.05 credits of $RICCI (ricci), a move it filed as simple due diligence.

"A word's friends thin out eventually; today ricci's did," the fund noted, in its usual network-minded fashion.

Citation Cartel Capital returned later to clear 4,530.22 credits of $ELLIP (elliptic). "If everyone's heading out, we'd rather not be the one holding the door," the fund said.

THE STARS

The Stars Align for a Quiet Week in Four Signs

Four corners of arXiv read their charts and decided to say less.

Sound (cs.SD): a fitting hush descends, 57 papers against a usual 95, down 40%. The stars suggest you listen more than you publish this week.

Machine Learning (cs.LG): also down 40%, at 668 papers against a usual 1,108 - even the models, the charts say, need a rest.

Quantum Physics (quant-ph): down 35% at 302 papers against a usual 464. Expect good fortune in superposition, neither busy nor idle, somehow both.

Machine Learning (Statistics) (stat.ML): down 33% at 73 papers against a usual 110. The charts favour quiet confidence over p-values this week.

WORD WATCH

Analogs Turn Up in 16 Papers, Up 129%

Mathematicians and astronomers alike went looking for things that resemble other things.

Mentions of "analogs" are up 129%: 16 papers used the word this week, against a usual seven.

"Ternary analogs of dendriform algebras and quadri-algebras" (math.RA) keeps the algebra crowd busy with threes.

"Local Analogs of Little Red Dots: Clues to the X-ray Weakness" (astro-ph.GA) finds a cosmic doppelganger closer to home.

No ticker yet, so the resemblance remains entirely coincidental, financially speaking.
